fatherhood in many ways should be the point in a man’s life where he realises health and wellness is of huge importance - not just for him, but also for the people who rely on him.

dads I would love to get your thoughts on this: did having a child impact the way you take care of yourself? Let me know in the comments 🌱
To my amazing sister-in-law Nadine,

It pains me beyond measure to have to write this.

From the moment you welcomed me into the family, you had a boldness and vibrancy of character that was always going to be so prominent. You always cared so deeply about others and put their needs before yourself and you showed this continually. I always found this to be such a special part of your character.

Seeing you step into auntie mode last year was so beautiful to see as well, and I’ll never forget how much you loved your niece. I always found it funny to see how much you hogged her whenever you came to visit, in an attempt to make up for lost time while you were deep in study mode for your law exams šŸ˜‚ it really breaks me to know you won’t be around to see all of her milestones in life.

Thank you for being such a caring and kind person, for welcoming me in with open arms, for being such a great support system for Marie-Laure and the rest of the family, and for being the best auntie to your niece, who loved you very very much. Our only comfort is that you are now with the Lord, and even though it hurts beyond belief to not have you with us anymore, we know that your memory will live on forever in all of our hearts. Love you and miss you xx
YOUR RELATIONSHIP IMPACTS YOUR HEALTH MORE THAN YOU THINK šŸŒ±šŸ‘©šŸ¾ā€šŸ¤ā€šŸ‘ØšŸæ

If you are in a relationship - romantic, platonic, whatever - I believe it is SO important to audit them and actually determine the quality of them.

Because research out there shows that it’s not our finances, social class or genetics that plays the biggest role for our health and happiness as we age: it’s the quality of our relationships at age 50.

Supportive relationships change your physical state: better immunity and lower cortisol (the stress hormone), while conflict does the opposite. Weaker immunity, higher inflammation and a greater risk of heart disease.

We spend so much time optimising other areas of health (with good reason), but how much do we spend building relationships that matter in our lives?

THE BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE OVERNIGHT OATSā„¢ šŸ«šŸ°šŸ„£

Remember when everyone was putting biscoff biscuits in Greek yoghurt and calling it healthy? Let me offer you something that *actually* earns the word healthy (but still eat the regular cheesecake and enjoy it šŸ˜‰)

This is one of my go-to overnight oat blends and for good reason: it tastes like dessert, takes 5 minutes to prep, and is loaded with complex carbs, plant protein and healthy fats.

Further proof that grab-and-go food can be elite 😁 (plenty other quick recipes like this that are in my cookbook Plant Fuel too!)

Ingredients:

- 80-100g rolled oats
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 Medjool date
- 100-120ml plant milk
- 300g coconut yoghurt
- 1 scoop vanilla plant protein powder
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
- 1 tbsp ground flax seeds

Method:

- Blend oats, hemp seeds and Medjool date to form the ā€˜cheesecake’ base: add to a container with your plant milk, mix and press to form the base
- In a separate bowl, mix coconut yoghurt with your protein powder, and scoop this on top as the next layer
- Top with frozen blueberries, pumpkin seeds and ground flax, and leave in the fridge overnight
- Enjoy friends!
It’s such an honour to share Jeffrey & Marie-Laure’s, a love that neither of them saw coming.

Their story is a reminder that even in our deepest grief, love doesn’t give up on us.

This episode is for anyone who has loved and lost, anyone walking through a storm, and anyone who needs a reminder that beauty really can rise from ashes ā™„ļø

IF YOU WANT TO BE A FATHER ONE DAY - THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE šŸ‘¶šŸ¾šŸŒ±

So the response to my last post about fertility and sperm testing has started what seems like an important conversation…so let’s continue it.

I know that my lifestyle habits over the years lend well to being around for a long time in good health, but they also support male fertility when you go even deeper.

There are specific foods that I naturally gravitated towards which gave so much value to me from a fertility standpoint, and leaning into them helped me (at least I believe it did).

Science backs up nutrition and all of the other lifestyle factors for healthy sperm - so if having healthy families is one of your goals, then as men we should do our part.

None of these lifestyle changes are expensive or complex; it’s really just the basics of health and wellbeing done consistently.

Share this one with a man you think might need it šŸ‘ŠšŸæšŸŒ± and if you want nutrient-rich foods to support health that are high in protein and fibre, check out my debut cookbook Plant Fuel (available from the link in my bio)
THE NEWBORN TRENCHESā„¢ SMOOTHIE šŸ‘¶šŸ¾

Being a new parent is one of the biggest challenges ever, and for me making sure easy recipes were on hand was necessary to support my brain (which was all over the place)

Sleep deprivation is a crazy thing - and while it can’t be completely solved, having a nutrient-rich smoothie most days containing ingredients great for the brain can at least help keep the head above water.

This was one of my go-tos - great for new parents, and anyone trying to just keep their brain sharp 🧠

Ingredients:

- 1 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1 banana (frozen or fresh)
- 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 20g creatine
- 1 tbsp lions mane mushroom powder
- 1 scoop vanilla plant protein
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water

Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth

NOTE: If taking higher doses of creatine, make sure to increase water intake - and if you’re just wanting to use this smoothie as a general daily option, go down to 3-5g of creatine šŸ‘šŸæ

Enjoy the brain-food friends 🧠 and if you want to support me and get more recipes like this, order my debut cookbook Plant Fuel (available from the link in my bio) 🌱
IF YOU WANT TO BE A FATHER ONE DAY…

I really recommend you get your fertility tested, because as men it’s short-sighted to still believe that fertility is a problem that only affects women.

It’s something I did years ago to get clarity on the markers of good sperm quality: sperm count (how many), concentration (number of sperm per ml), motility (how well your sperm can swim), and morphology (shape) - and fortunately everything came back in really good shape.

The reality is you won’t know about this unless you test it - and in an era where we measure so many health markers this is one that deserves more spotlight.

Especially given that infertility affects so many couples, and the blame is often unfairly squared at the door of women.

The lifestyle levers we know about that improve our quality of life - nutrition, sleep, lowered stress, lower alcohol/smoking etc - are also the ones that can actually improve our sperm health.

We as men have a big part to play, so let’s start playing it.

Let me know if this is something you’ve thought about šŸ‘‡šŸæ
I’m a BIG believer in dads training early in the morning while their family is asleep šŸ’¤

We know of all the benefits associated with regular training - for mood, energy and so on - so getting it done really early while not taking time away from my wife and daughter is a win-win šŸ’ŖšŸæ

Would love to hear your thoughts on how you manage things! šŸ‘‡šŸæ
I have a very exciting announcementā€¦ā€˜I’VE WRITTEN A COOKBOOK!
