Take a look at this huge mural by the talented Dutch artist Paul Watty located in my hometown Venlo (The Netherlands), this piece turns an ordinary apartment building into a giant canvas. It’s, together with the older mural on the same building full of vegetables, a stunning tribute to the rich greenhouse and agricultural history of this region. A perfect blend of street art and local heritage! 🏢✨

What you see is a brilliant mix of 15th-century Flemish Primitives and modern street culture. The legendary street artist Smug created this gigantic mural in the Belgian city of Maaseik. It is a contemporary, laid-back interpretation of ‘The Enthroned Christ’ from the world-famous masterpiece The Ghent Altarpiece by the Van Eyck brothers.

“ the toss” The painting “Man with the Red Turban” by
Jan Van Eyck (b. 1390 Maaseik) is considered
the self-portrait of our illustrious fellow townsman.
This mural is a contemporary interpretation by Niels van Swaemen and Kasper van Leek of
Just as in Van Eyck’s original work, there is a
strong contrast between the illuminated face, the artfully draped hood, and the dark background.
The facial features also stand out clearly and in detail. Whereas in Van Eyck’s work the studio windows were reflected in the eyes as small specks of light, the artists have brought back the contemporary reflection of the light from their
flash lamp.
Furthermore, in Van Eyck’s work, the gaze from the painting was employed for the
first time to imply the intimacy and understanding between the viewer and the portrait. Direct eye contact is therefore a recurring theme in this work.
The clothing was adapted to the spirit of the times, but
as with Van Eyck, a black top with a small section of white undergarment is visible.
In the folds of the turban, a shadow of a
skull was incorporated as a reference to the cycle of life and death, serving as a source of inspiration for both Van Eyck and the painters of today. The red color that is so often prominently present in Van Eyck’s work also recurs in the ring (cf.
The portrait of the goldsmith Jan de Leeuw) and the cardinal bird (also a reference to the portrait of his patron Cardinal Niccolo Albergati).
It is on the preliminary draft of this painting that Jan Van Eyck made notes in the Meuse Valley language with a silver stylus regarding the facial features of the sitter.
The cardinal bird symbolizes the unique power and beauty with which artists revere Van Eyck as a pioneer and grand master within the art of painting.
Jan Van Eyck managed to refine the technique of painting with
oil paint to such an extent that so many artists after him
were able to spread their wings to the fullest.

Speeding through the streets of Berlin and stumbled upon 'Art Juggernaut' by UK street artist 💥 🚛 This incredibly detailed miniature stencil work captures pure tragicomic chaos. Love how JPS uses micro-art to completely transform a simple city wall into a dramatic 3D highway accident scene. Berlin's urban art scene is full of these hidden Easter eggs! 🇩🇪 #jpsartist #streetarteverywere #microstencil #berlinstreetart #stencilart
A deeply moving tribute in Southern Italy. 🕊️ Standing in front of this massive mural dedicated to Nadia Toffa in the Salinella district of Taranto, Puglia. She was a beloved journalist for, and the city honored her memory with this emotional artwork for her incredible advocacy for local children. The phrase below translates to "Your presence is still alive...". The emotional power of urban art to keep stories alive never ceases to amaze me. 🇮🇹✨

“trialog” This massive 42-meter-high artwork beautifully depicts the Berlin bear staring down at a young girl who is completely lost in her smartphone screen. Such a powerful visual commentary on modern technology and our disconnect from the real world. by Nature is waiting for us to return #urbanart #topstreetart #berlinstreetart #streetart_daily #bear
A monument of pure love and visibility on the streets of Berlin. 🕊️🐕 Stumbled upon this breathtaking, deeply moving mural titled 'Omar & Megatatze' by the legendary German urban artist. Located in Berlin-Moabit, this massive photorealistic piece honors Omar, a homeless man who lived on Berlin's streets for over 30 years before passing away. Together with his loyal dog Megatatze, he is painted full of life and joy to make those who are often ignored by society unmissable. Street art at its most powerful! 🇩🇪💔 📍Levetzowstrasse 12A by #berlinstreetart #streetartberlin #streetarteverywhere #akut #hyperrealism
“Der Papageienmann” This massive mural by is next level. It features a man on an e-scooter taking a selfie with parrots right in the middle of the city. It's an incredible photo spot, but it also carries a deeper message about how we interact with the world today. 📱🦜#parrot #streetarteverywhere #wall_art_community #247graff #berlinstreetart
