Final NYC dump and back to reality šŸ¤£ā¤ļø New York over and out XOXO

A NYE to remember ā¤ļø

Dragging Ben round gossip girl sights, Central Park and walking round the upper east side right down to 5th Avenue 🤣 finishing with sunset on the Rockafella šŸ˜ 30000 steps later - I’m surprised we even saw midnight haha!

New York you are everything I dreamed 🤩
Happy New Year from us to you šŸ¤āœØ

A New York sunset with my favourite person to mark the close of 2025 šŸ¤šŸ˜

Thank you for the love on yesterday’s post. Honestly meant a lot and thank you for those sharing their stories too. I’ll share more this year, but for today… just a moment to send a little love your way, and wish you an amazing start to the new year.

Here’s to whatever 2026 holds: big goals, quiet chapters, and everything in between šŸ„‚
This time of year usually looks like race calendars, business plans and new challenges.

But…this year is/has been different, and it’s taken some time to settle with that.

I get ask a lot: ā€œWhat are you training for right now?ā€
The truth is: I’m not.

And for the last year, that felt uncomfortable to admit…because performance goals have been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember.

But over the last 2 years, life focus has shifted. I’ve stayed quiet because I didn’t know how to talk about it, and honestly, I hoped that when I finally shared it, we’d be brewing a little one.

However, we still aren’t quite there, and I can’t stop life or hide away because that’s just not who I am.

This year we moved towards IVF for support and although it hasn’t gone our way so far, this journey has taught and keeps teaching me more about mental strength and resilience than training ever has.

For those who have gone through it (or are currently going through it), you’ll know: the egg collection process alone is intense. I’m slowly becoming a master of that part 🤣 but 6 months of continual hormones and injections while trying to live normally and show up as usual has forced me to grow in ways I never expected.

This next year will be similar but we’re heading into it feeling more grounded, positive and optimistic. Every round teaches you something new and those lessons carry you into the next.

The reality of what I’m actually ā€œtraining forā€ as we head into 2026 is a continued chapter of navigating treatment, protecting my energy, and choosing strength in a way that isn’t measured by splits, medals or PBs.

I’m sharing this because I know there are others — male and female — balancing big dreams while life looks different behind the scenes. It isn’t weakness to pause. It isn’t failure to shift focus. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is honour where you are and still back yourself for what’s coming.

šŸ‘‡ continued in comments…
POA: Low pressure.
No agenda.
Just move if you feel like it.

2 years of The Athlete Edge šŸ’«

Tomorrow is our birthday, so today I want to shine the light on the people who’ve made these 2 years what they are, my clients.
The runners who’ve trusted me with their goals, opened up about their niggles and worries, shared their big dreams, and let me support them through the lows as well as celebrating the highs.

This reel is just a TINY snapshot of the stories, the progress, the laughs, the PB texts, the ā€œI didn’t think I could do thatā€ moments. I’ve had the absolute privilege of personalising over 120 training programmes over the last 2 years and that number is intentional. I only ever work with a select group at one time so I can support people properly. Personalised coaching needs communication, adaptation, and actual attention. That’s always been the heart of The Athlete Edge.

And honestly… it still blows my mind every time I see someone grow in confidence or realise what they’re capable of.

If you take anything from this, I hope it’s a little spark for what you might want in 2026. Coaching isn’t for everyone and that’s totally okay. But what it can give you is support. Structure. Someone who actually listens. A plan that adapts with your life rather than bulldozing over it.

Because nothing I do is one size fits all.
Every single person I coach starts from where they are.

Some people run 4–5 days a week. Others begin with one run and build slowly. Some thrive on thresholds; some need more space between harder sessions. And in Kat’s case (she’s in this video), we spent months figuring out the right balance, so training wasn’t adding to life fatigue. In the last 6 months we have really worked out the schedule and routine that makes her thrive šŸš€ and that’s one of the most rewarding parts of our journey together.

That’s the magic for me.
Finding your formula, not the internet’s.

So thank you šŸ™ truly, to every single person who has been part of The Athlete Edge over the last two years. You’ve shaped this into something bigger than I ever imagined and made my dreams come true too.

Here’s to the next season, the next stories, the next start lines… and everything still to come. šŸ’›

I often talk about cadence and form… but as runners we forget how much our feet play a role in how efficiently we move.

Back in my high jumping days, I spent hours learning drills just like these.
When you only have 20 metres to build as much speed and power as possible before taking off – EVERY step counts.
That’s why efficiency matters.

It’s the SAME with endurance running. If you can improve how you connect with the floor and how you drive away from it, everything else becomes smoother and quicker and EASIER!

These are three drills I’ve brought from that world into running coaching:

Toe Pops

Ankle Dribbles

A-Skips

They’re simple to do, but only effective if you do them with intent.
You’re training the muscle-mind connection, not just ticking off a warm-up.

And if you want to explore this further and build more purpose into your movement – come join us at Power & Pace on 12th April.

Save this to try them out and let me know how they feel in your next few runs.

A little fact: it’s been 8 years since retiring from high jump. Most of the time it just feels like yesterday 😱

It has been so amazing watching some incredible performances over these last 10 days and most specifically in the Scottish vests. I was on holiday trying to find a VPN to watch the early days of the athletics. Some incredible performances. I think personally you always want that GB vest but nothing means more than competing for your home country….šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æ

1 year away from masters… it’s got me a little bit hungry for a comeback šŸ«£šŸ˜‚ we shall see šŸ˜‚ a tank comeback? šŸƒšŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
