We are big fans of platter style picnic lunches at our house - just popping together bits and pieces so everyone can pick and choose what they feel like. It’s also way easier to make these kinds of meals. Now that I’m not sleep deprived I’ve also been getting much better at packing food when we go out rather than buying it.

I’ve had my eye on these stainless steel Crunch Boxes from for a while and now that I have my hands on some I love them! Easy little compartments to fill, optional containers with silicone lids for leaky things and an organic cotton case to keep it all cooler for longer. No more plastic or single use wraps for our food on the go.

For this picnic lunch I packed avocado slices, home made Mayo for dipping, cut fruit, gelatin gummies and home made banana bread. But some other things we love in our picnic lunches are boiled eggs, left over roast veggies, sandwiches, yogurt with berry chia jam, cheese slices (sliced from a block), apple muffins and any other leftovers that taste good cold!

Working with
The way his little feet are dangling and don’t yet reach the ground… he doesn’t often sit with me like this for a photo so I’ve never really seen us together from a distance. But seeing these photos reminds me how little he still is and at the same time how quickly he’s growing. Before I know it those feet will be reaching the ground and exploring the world outside of our little family, which is his whole world right now.
Our night weaning journey to full nights of sleep ✨
You may or may not know but this little guy was waking me up anywhere from 4 to 8 times every night for the first 12 months of his life. I has given up on things getting better any time soon until I learnt about night weaning (which isn’t recommended before 12 months old anyway).
From what I’d read and what others had told me it takes around 3 nights (but maybe up to 10) for the no feeds in the night to turn into full nights of sleep. I was sceptical but also desperate so we decided on our boundaries - I would still feed him to sleep before naps and bed time and he could still come into our bed in the night if we could not settle him into his own bed. But there would be no milk after bed time until 6am the next day. For the first few nights we went to him together taking turns rocking him back to sleep. And we’d prepared ourselves for it to be a tough first week. But the toughest was the first night, with a 12am-2am stretch of settling (with big cries). The next night we still had wake ups but settling only took 15 mins. The third night it was even better. Then on the fourth night he slept through until 6am. I was so excited in the morning I woke Jase up to tell him 😂 Since that fourth night he’s slept through almost every night (with a couple of blips here and there). He also is able to be settled by my hubby (before night weaning he would only go to sleep by breast feeding - so I was on my own).

It’s been totally life changing to get my sleep back and also not be the only one who could get him to sleep.

Happy to answer any other questions you have about what we did!
Taking a step back from posting here has not only been because of my past year of terrible sleep or adjusting to life with two kids, I was also just a bit burnt out from it. Tired of choosing my daily outfits with the thought that I might be in a photo, tired of orchestrating taking photos when it just didn’t fit organically into my day and tired of feeling like a day with out a post or stories wasn’t quite complete. I was so deep into this way of thinking that I knew the only way to change was to step back, slow down and live my life without the Instagram restraints I’d put on myself.

So here I am. The sun is “too harsh for a photo”, the backdrop is not perfect and pristine, these are the clothes I dressed us in for the day with no other agenda than to feel good and comfy. This photo was not set up, it’s a moment that just happened to be photographed.

And that’s what you can expect to see from me now, in no rush and I. no particular posting schedule. I’m starting back on my journey of wholesome eating, low tox and sustainable living and minimalism and I feel refreshed and excited to share it here again.
I have some news… after 12 months of 4-8 wakes per night Raphi is now sleeping through! And with my sleep returning and along with it a bit more energy you might see me around here a little more again! This is the first time I’ve felt like posting in months so that’s a good sign ☺️ it’s truly amazing how much a good nights sleep can change your energy, your mindset and your capacity for doing things.

So how did we do it? We ended up night weaning. The first three nights got progressively easier to settle him without a feed and on the 4th night he slept from 7.30pm - 6.30am with one tiny wake up at 8pm. We are now up to night 8 the full sleeps are still happening! It’s not recommended to night wean before 12 months so if you’re struggling and your bub is under 1, hopefully this story can at least give you something to try if you’re still not getting sleep in their second year. 💛
I’m tired of feeling like if I don’t show up here daily then what I do share is irrelevant. I’m tired of social media owning what I share and how I share it. I’ve been much slower here lately. With everything else I’ve got happening I just don’t have the time to be here as much as I used to be. But I do still love sharing my words and photos and life when I can. So I will keep doing it, but slowly and to my own schedule.

A little snippet from our recent holiday - the first holiday since Raphi was born and it gave us so much confidence to do some more travel. It wasn’t always easy but there were so many beautiful moments that it was worth it.

I can’t believe I’m a BOY mum!

During my entire pregnancy I was so so certain we were having a girl. This pregnancy was way different to Ollie’s. I had way more morning sickness, I was way more emotional and I had hardly any cravings. With Ollie I had the same strong feeling he was a boy so I was sure I must be right again.

So when Raphi was born and we discovered we had another little boy I was in shock for about 24 hours. But now only a couple of weeks later I cannot imagine things any other way. I love my boys sooooo much it hurts. And it’s true what they say, even though you can’t imagine loving another little human as much as your first your heart just grows bigger and you do 💙

It’s not always easy, it’s not always beautiful. But my god it’s worth it.

Now just days away from meeting this new soul - how lucky and grateful I am… #39weeks 🌜✨
