An extraordinary 3.5 days in Paris and Versailles, with the thrill of celebrating the Literary Prize - PRIX AZNAVOUR DES MOTS D'AMOUR, 4EME EDITION at their ceremony for and his novel, "Une Salamandre à l'oreille" with Mischa Aznavour

Gorgeous evening

Merci

Félicitations Fabrice!!
What a thrill to share moments of my recent trip to Versailles with clients, wonderful members of the French Heritage Society, and the Château's 18th century curator Clara Terreaux, as we celebrated the return of Charles-Antoine Coypel's distinguished painting, "Jeux d'enfants à la toilette", 1728, which I placed at the musée national du château de Versailles last year.

Hailing from the collection of Madame de Pompadour, this painting is now installed in her private apartment at the Château, reunited with its historical home.

From the press release:

As an art historian and art obsessive, I am truly thankful for the opportunity to work with significant works of art, repositories of culture that are a tribute to memory and meaning. Merci!!

The afternoon followed a lovely lunch chez and a tour of the King's private apartments with Bertrand Rondot, Chief Curator for Furniture and Objects of Art. Truly magnificent.

Thank you and the entire team at The French Heritage Society!

We interrupt the New York art fair and auction recap to celebrate the exquisite 18th century Ancien Hôtel de Le duc de Guines ) with extraordinary plaster sculptures and carved elements by French artist Jean-Baptiste Boiston ), an entrepreneur and artist of highly refined ornament, replete with charm, meaning and symbolic content.

The large domestic structure with adjacent farm just outside of Paris was a form of "weekend" garden home (Follie) for the aristocracy situated in a verdant environment, but purposefully not a grand château. The Duc de Guines commissioned this absolutely lovely music room in the Neoclassical style, and the refined Pompeii and Wedgewood inspired bedroom with the most elegant blue and white color scheme for his wife, the Princess de Montmorency.

Masonic symbols are inherent throughout the design scheme, as cupids play instruments and also carry elements of war, references to the Duc's profession and passion, as well as to the Lodges of the Masons in which both Guines and Bastion were members.

Extraordinary restoration and home of - merci infiniment for a delightful afternoon chez vous!

Last Wednesday VIP and subsequent visits with many examples of paintings that appealed, from nuanced naturalism to for bursts of color.

Last week's fair opening morning with baked treats from the Estonian House social club.

A whirlwind of fairs last week and special visits with artists, colleagues, clients and friends from across the US and the world.
Earlier this month May auction previews opened, with the first auctions this past week.

A near-record result for this gorgeous 1964 painting, "Cape Orange" by was no surprise. I have had the pleasure to sell significant paintings by Frankenthaler from every decade of her expansive career, and this one was ravishing.

Works from the collection of the late Robert Mnuchin, including fantastic works by Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko, totaled just over $166,000,000.

The paintings by Noland, Mitchell, Basquiat and Warhol (green Bridget Bardot) sold very well, with a return to classic blue chip and a round of appreciation cemented for the night.
The glittering collection of S.I. Newhouse of fame leads New York's May auctions with Brancusi's modernist siren, "Danaïde", ca. 1913, which he acquired for a record sum in 2002 from the original owners.

Jackson Pollock's epic 1948 canvas, "Number 7A", mesmerizes with its skeins of paint, conjuring a universe of synapses in a whirl - also Newhouse collection. Many other gems await- ranging from Mondrian to Picasso.

The second special estate of this season is that of the dedicated philanthropist, Agnes Gund, here featuring the resplendent "No. 15 (Two Greens and a Red Stripe)", 1954 by Mark Rothko, among other works.

The estate of gallerist and collector extraordinaire, Marian Goodman, is selling a sublime collection of works by Gerhard Richter, including the German painter's iconic "Candle(Kirze)" of 1982.

Dazzlers by Frank Stella, Lee Krasner, George O'Keeffe, Modigliani, Cecily Brown and others all await the hammer.

"Helen Frankenthaler: The Moment and the Distance", an exhibition organized in collaboration with is a satisfyingly gorgeous show. Now on view through July 2nd in Chelsea.

The selection spans four decades of paintings from 1960 to 1992 and features more than twenty of Frankenthaler’s large-scale works. Among these is the artist's homage to the Old Master painter Jacopo da Bassano (b. 1510) with "Hint from Bassano" of 1973, featuring a richly varied palette of olive and deep greens, orange, blue and nuanced browns characteristic of the Venetian's palette. This work is emblematic of Frankenthaler's canvases that engage with celebrated art and artists, ranging from Goya to Manet to Renoir.

Thank you for our Patrons tour with curator - delightful to learn his insight on an artist whose canvases have engaged me and my clients consistently for many years.

From the thinned oil paint of Frankenthaler's 1950s-60s paintings to the more layered works in acrylic with impasto of her last decade, it is exciting to experience the artist's continued push to innovate and deeply engage with her medium.

This show sets the stage for the future retrospective of Frankenthaler's work currently in organization by
The glorious exhibition, "Matisse: The Pursuit of Harmony" now on view is fantastic on my third visit, and, rightfully so, more crowded!

This show features more than fifty paintings, works on paper and sculptures, with extraordinary loans from private collections and institutions, including and among others.

The ravishing colors, patterns and compositions of Matisse's paintings are testaments to his bold individuality and artistic vision.

Beautiful and insightful exhibition catalogue published with

My fantastic table led by and a spirited silent auction with many great works including to name a few.

Great to see friends and feel inspired by a room of extraordinary people who care about the world, about freedom and about the artist's voice.
