Nun ist an der Reihe, « Between Blood and Glitter » vorzustellen. Die mexikanische Grenzstadt Ciudad Juárez ist einer der gefährlichsten Orte der Welt für Frauen. Nach Angaben der Vereinten Nationen wurden dort in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten mehr als 2.500 Frauen ermordet, und Hunderte gelten bis heute als vermisst. Die allgegenwärtige Angst vor Gewalt schränkt die Freiheit vieler Frauen erheblich ein. Doch es gibt eine kleine Gruppe, die sich nicht einschränken lässt: die Luchadoras.

Seeing the luchadoras stand in front of their own images was an incredibly emotional moment. I can’t express how grateful and happy I am. 🥹
For the past three years I’ve been working on this story about the powerful female luchadoras in Ciudad Juárez together with Kathrin “Miss Kath” Zeiske. Now the photographs have returned to Mexico for the first time — directly to their home city.

The exhibition runs until May 2 and will be accompanied by a public program including self-defense workshops, panel talks with luchadoras, photo walks and mask-making workshops.
The exhibition and the program wouldn‘t be possible without Alharaca, Alta Comisión de Lucha Libre de Ciudad Juárez, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mexico, Fondo Community, Goethe-Institut Mexiko, Instituto Municipal de las Mujeres de Ciudad Juárez, Paso del Norte Community Foundation and the Municipal Government of Ciudad Juárez.

This year I was invited to show my work at Festival in Milan. My 15-year-old self would have never believed it.
The brilliant has created a worldwide network that connects photographers, amplifies visibility and empowers creativity. Alessia, your energy is boundless - so much respect for this! 💕
For four days, my work was printed as a book and displayed in its own showcase in Milan’s historic library, one of the most beautiful setups I have ever seen. Huge props to and for making this event possible!

Exactly when the feature came out in, I was opening my very first solo exhibition with my project ‚Between Blood and Glitter’. For the past years I’ve been documenting female wrestlers – the Luchadoras of Ciudad Juárez, México, one of the most dangerous places in the world for women.
I had massive prints and an incredible live wrestling match right in the exhibition space – and then THIS announcement on top. Thank you to everyone who believes in this project.
