Ethiopia, November 2025

Tagging along with my friends at on another sourcing trip, and my first time in East Africa. I’ve got so much to say about the tiny slice of this beautiful country I was lucky enough to see. I learned so much more about coffee and coffee production of course, but also just about people, life, and perhaps me?

so much more to share from the trip, and a whole new set of images to add to my ongoing series on coffee production, but for now a few portraits of a few of the people who let me pause with them for a moment and make a photograph.

Huge thanks to all the family for sharing a little bit of your world with us.

Rampage around the Mull

Part 2 of 2

So there’s a bit of story behind this set of photos I shot for earlier this autumn… on a 4 day sailing and surf trip around the inner Hebrides with some great friends. the long version will come, but till then, the bullet points…

Started strong: rain to make the tropics proud, instantly soaked, denied fuel, and forced to sail the wrong way for hours because apparently marinas run on vibes, not diesel.

Then nature felt bad for us: dolphins, whales, golden light… the ocean saying, “Sorry about earlier, lads.”

We surfed questionable waves in the middle of nowhere: hooting, high-fiving, pretending it was exactly what we’d hoped for.

Discovered a perfect secret (tiny) wave: surfed said wave, acted like we were 12, whooped ourselves hoarse, successful fishing, golden eagles, floating atop stars, Peak life moments.

Then the jib exploded, the mast snapped, the radio died, and we nearly died: cue frantic cable-cutting, mayday calls, and us trying to look calm while internally screaming.

Engine quit. Twice. Lifeboat called. Twice. Towed to port. Cleaned up the mess, jury rig, sailed home like shipwreck survivors who’d misplaced half their dignity.

Ended the trip humbled, grateful, and slightly traumatised: storm raging outside, beer in hand, thinking, “…that escalated.”

Forever grateful to cool headed shipmates:

And Aidan Begby

And to the Castletown, we can’t thank you enough 🙏

One of my favourite times of the last few years has been when I get an email from asking me to pop over from Cornwall to document life on the island, and capture some stories for their annual publication the Tresco Times (beautifully designed and put together by )

I get to step into another little world for a few days, slow down, be reactive and shoot with freedom.

To build friendships and a creative relationship with a client over years, and to feel trusted, is something I feel so grateful for.

Anyways… this is a small selection of some of my favourites over the last couple of years.

Those who know me, know I enjoy my coffee. It’s become a bit of a passion over the years - from stints working in coffee shops, to sourcing trips in Central America (where these pictures are from). It’s something I’ve really enjoyed learning more about over time.

This morning, I got to brew a cup that feels a little closer to me than most. It’s a beautiful natural-process coffee from a producer in northern Nicaragua called Marcos Florian, roasted by my good friends at. Marcos is someone I first met on a sourcing trip with and back in 2022, in that strange time when the world was just opening up after Covid. We were taken on a long drive up into the mountains in the back of a pickup truck by our friends Martha and Ana. It was a rough ride - back-breaking at times - but at the end of those dirt tracks, we ended up at a tiny, little farm, El Recuerdo way out there.

We met Marcos and spent much of the afternoon with him as he showed us his small farm. He explained how he has to walk up from the village most days - about three hours, as I recall - and then pay friends with a truck to help move his coffee down to the mill at harvest. Until that point, he had never separated his coffee from the regional blend, which meant some of it - potentially much higher quality - was being sold for far less than it was worth.

On the bumpy ride back down the mountain, Rich noticed something special about the farm, the coffee, and Marcos himself. He told Martha and Ana that if they separated Marcos’ coffee, he’d commit to buying the whole lot, untasted. Months later, when samples finally arrived in the UK, the coffee turned out to be even better than expected. Since then, Rich has bought Marcos’ entire harvest every year...

at the end of last year I had the pleasure of producing and shooting the Spring/Summer campaign for and I’m finally getting round to sharing a few of my faves.

Such a joy to build an epic little crew of super talented friends and head out to a place that I’ve grown to love a lot the last few years, #sardinia

I’m deep in a portfolio refresh/overhaul/reset with self doubt creeping up on me whenever I stray from the job at hand. Freelance crew will understand I’m sure.

Anyway, does allow time to relive some great trips and shoots… like this one. A canoe trip in the west highlands of Scotland with my pal. Originally for a client, but then become part of our short film we made together ‘don’t imprison the wind’ (you can find it on YouTube channel)

I’d had the trip in mind for a while, paddling from the sea, along the length of Scotlands deepest loch, to a remote bothy tucked in a glen at the eastern end of the loch. As usual I’d made a big underestimation of the distance, and we arrived on the shore near the bothy, 6 hours later into a strong headwind and relentless rain, exhausted. We stayed 2 nights in total solitude and peace in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland I’ve ever been, before sailing a stiff easterly back the length of the loch.

I guess It was ‘work’ in some way, but it certainly didn’t feel like it.
