If I had to use a single word to describe this year so far, it’d be uncomfortable.
This year I’ve stepped out in ways I never thought I would. And it’s been vulnerable, uncomfortable, and yet incredibly life-giving.
I love to sing, I love to worship, but I don’t necessarily love doing either of those things in front of other people. And yet, if there’s one thing I’ve learned in walking with the Lord, when he opens a door for you to step into new things, the best choice, although not always the easiest choice, is to say yes.
I’m super grateful for and the whole Compass NFW worship team for being the most kind and supportive teammates on my first Sunday leading.
When life feels overwhelming, when your identity feels lost, when you’re just not sure if there’s more to come, choose to remind your heart of this:
“If I’m not dead, you’re not done.”
It’s been a challenging couple of days for our family, but I’m not gonna sit around and mope about it like I don’t have the choice to get up and keep going.
So here’s to those Jericho walls coming down, and letting the joy of the Lord be our strength! 💪🏽😤🥰
This week's word is faith.
Faith is a confident trust in things we can't see, which is essentially the foundation of our relationship with Jesus. We haven't physically seen him with our eyes, yet we know he's real. We trust that what we find and read about in the Bible is real and true, and as a result, we believe God is who he says he is.
So what happens when we walk through seasons of life where things are hard and challenging and it seem hard to keep the faith? I believe, if we'll learn to lean into our faith instead of pushing it away when life gets hard, we'll begin to see our faith grow.
It doesn't take faith to believe in things you can see, but rather to believe in things unseen. To trust that God is working all things together for your good. To believe that God is for you and not against you when you come up against life's challenges. To believe that God is still good even when your circumstances aren't.
So let's lean into faith this week:
1. What area of life right now feels challenging?
2. What would it look like to place your faith and hope in Jesus no matter the circumstance?
3. Ask someone this week to pray with you, that Jesus would strengthen your faith as you face hard circumstances.

This week's word is worry. 😟
There will always be things to be worried about. What if nothing I studied ends up being on this test? What if I can't execute this free kick correctly? Whatever the situation, choosing to be worried adds nothing to your life, but only takes. Takes your peace, your joy, and your ability to be present.
So let's practice seeking the kingdom of God, and trusting that he'll provide what we need, when we need it.
1. Memorize Matthew 6:33-34
2. Spend time asking the Lord to show you the areas of your life where you tend to worry the most (performing on the field, doubting yourself in the classroom, etc.)
3. Write down 1-2 moments where you chose to surrender your worry and instead trust in God and the preparation you put forth to tackle the things on your schedule this week.

We had such sweet God moments affirming her name, but we pray that God would truly be this little one’s teacher and that her heart would be tethered to his Word all the days of her life. 💜
Side note: Mariah would come 6 days late, but she picked a wonderful day to arrive… April 3rd also happens to be her grandma Betsey’s birthday. To say my heart is full in that my daughter gets to share a birthday with her mamma’s mom is an understatement. 💜
Little miss Zoe Rae made her entrance into the world 4 days early on August 15th at 10:18pm!
We couldn’t be more in love and grateful for this sweet gift we get to call our own!
