Welcome to Bath Abbey 🤩

For obvious reasons, it is one of the most visited sites in Bath. But did you know it is officially known as the Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.

The abbey itself is a richly atmospheric place of worship which shows a premier example of Norman Perpendicular Gothic architecture. This architecture is a true testament to the blend of Anglo-Saxon, Norman and 19th-century cultures.

Bath Abbey was the last great medieval cathedral built in England. The site of the Abbey has a history encompassing over 1,200 years. Throughout this period, there have been three different churches occupying the site since 757 AD.

While it’s facade and interior are splendid, you should opt to climb the Tower Tour that runs daily from 10 am – 4 pm. You have to pay a small fee to do this, but it offers a unique chance to climb 212 steps and enjoy an unrivalled panoramic view of the city, visit the Bell chamber and even sit behind the clock face.

Have you been to Bath? What’s your favourite thing to do there?

Welcome to Dinefwr Estate ⬇️

This is Newton House which sits in the middle of the enormous Dinefwr Park and Castle estate, and an ancient medieval deer park surrounds it! It’s very close to the Brecon Beacons as well!

It is a Grade II* listed building and has been the home for the descendants of the Lord Rhys, the most powerful and famous prince in the Welsh Kingdom of Deheubarth, for over three hundred years! Since 1990, it has been under the care of the National Trust, and apparently, the house is said to be the most haunted property in their care. So much so, that it’s been featured on the TV programme, ‘Most Haunted’.

Other hidden gems in Wales are:

💥 Y Garn Goch - this is a beautiful hike at the fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park. It’s the largest Iron Age Hillfort in Wales but no one knows about it!

💥 Talley Abbey - this is the only Premonstratensian church in Wales. It’s surrounded by two glacial lakes and 3 woodland walks! Plus Henry Tudor came here on his way to fight Richard III at Bosworth!

💥 Jabajak Vineyard - this is the only restaurant with ties to THE White House and President John Adams. Tour the vineyard and discover a special kind of cool climate grapes!

💥 Merthyr Mawr - The Welsh Cotswold village with thatched roof cottages and a medieval castle.

💥 Paxton’s Tower - an enormous folly sitting on a hill overlooking the Carmarthenshire countryside! It used to be pink!

💥 Castell Henllys Iron Age Village - the only Iron Agr village to be reconstructed on the same spot tribes used to live in the U.K.!

💥 Nevern - the quietest village in Wales with a bleeding Yew Tree. It’s sap is red and is said to be weeping for a boy who was hanged here centuries ago!

A full guide to Monsanto - Portugal’s best hidden gem ⬇️

Monsanto was created over 500 years ago, and in 1948, it was awarded the title of the “most Portuguese” village in the country. It’s also one of only twelve official Historical Villages of Portugal. As a result, building restrictions came into play, meaning Monsanto still retains its old-world aesthetic.

TOP THINGS TO DO:

💥 Walk around the quaint streets, some of which are only just wide enough to fit donkeys!

💥 Dine at Taverna Lusitana - they also have a B&B.

💥 Take a tour of the village with Porta Raiana Tours.

💥 Hike to Monsanto Castle - used in the series House of the Dragon as House Targaryen’s ancestral home! It was built by Gualdim Pais, a Knight Templar.

💥 Visit the Romanesque church and clock tower for amazing views!

💥 Disvover the Gruta which is a cavern once used – and still is used – as a drinking den.

💥 Look for the executioner’s house (thankfully, he no longer lives there or exists)!

💥 Visit Monsanto during the Festival of the Holy Cross which commemorates the town’s long history of sieges.

Top 11 affordable luxury hotels in the world!

Like if you’d stay in one of them. 🤩

1. Sofitel Mauritius L’Imperial Resort & Spa - they have great package deals, various room rates, the option to be all-inclusive or not, and more importantly, great discount for shoulder seasons.

2. Chilly Power - this is one of the few French ski resorts that are open during the summer, which means their room prices are lower than their winter (peak skiing season).

3. Hotel Bristol Geneve - If you opt for room price only (no breakfast), then this hotel is a decent price. It might seem expensive at first, but if you’re just paying for the room, full access to the spa and swimming pool is included in that. Plus it’s less than 5 minutes walking from Lake Geneva - ideal location!

4. The Macdonald Leeming House - Value for money is fab - the rooms are enormous plus it has a waterfront location. If you book via websites like Voyage Privee, you often get good discounts.

5. Studley Castle - several room packages, plus full access to the spa, gym, pool and activities like archery, cycling, yoga and more!

6. Pestana Cidadela Cascais - If you come here during the shoulder seasons, there are fab discounts! Plus, if you’re travelling in pairs, the deluxe rooms are often cheaper than the standard rooms.

💥 5 of my best tips below!!

Here are my favourite tips for achieving affordable luxury travel ⬇️

💥 TRAVEL OUT OF SEASON: Morzine is a luxury ski resort. But unlike most ski resorts in France, Morzine is open during the summer. And I’m sure you’ve guessed it, but the summer months are wayyyy cheaper! For example, we stayed in one of the most renowned chalet companies in France for less than €500. For the same number of nights, it would have cost around €789 during the winter for a double/twin room.

💥 CARRY-ON LUGGAGE: One of my favourite tips is to only take carry-on luggage onto the plane - if possible. This way, you can still get good seats (we like extra leg room), but for a third of the price. For example, our return flights cost around £101, whereas adding a 15kg hold bag would take the cost to £203.92.

💥 MULTI PASSES: In a place like Morzine, even in the summer, you’ll want to use the ski lifts and fun activities like horse riding or the local spa. Get the local multi pass which saves you LOADS. It allows you to try outdoor and indoor activities for just €2, rather than paying entrance fee each time.

💥 BOOK A SPA HOTEL: Okay, this might sound contradictory, but if you book a hotel with a spa (like we did), you can spend as much time there as you want - the only thing to pay for are treatments. Whereas, if you rent an apartment/book a hotel with no spa, you’re looking at paying anywhere from €45 entry to a spa. That price doesn’t include the cost of a massage!

💥 ONLY HAVE 1 SIT DOWN MEAL PER DAY: In a place like Morzine you’ll be too busy to indulge in the luxurious and award-winning restaurants/cafes. So a great way to save some ££ is to have breakfast at your hotel (which is usually included in the hotel price), make a sandwich at the hotel or purchase one from a local bakery for lunch, and then sit down in a fancy restaurant in the evening!

This picture-perfect village is in…⬇️

Welcome to Merthyr Mawr - Wales’s most charming village, and somewhere most people don’t know about!

📍Merthyr Mawr is situated 2.5 miles from Bridgend in South Wales!

💥 Why go? It’s one of the only villages in Wales with pretty thatched cottages that look a lot like the pretty Cotswold villages.

WHAT TO DO IN MERTHYR MAWR:
🔹 Explore the cute cottages

🔹 Visit St Teilo’s Church - you’ll find stones dating from the 5th century and important Early Christian monuments from when the Roman’s occupied Britain. The stained glass windows are exquisite as well. FREE to enter.

🔹 Go paddling in Ogmore River - also great for skipping stones and it has a wonderful bridge.

🔹 Ogmore Castle - to reach the castle you have to cross the bridge from Merthyr Mawr’s car park and then cross a series of ancient stepping stones. Once over, you’ll find a fortress built to guard the River Ewenny. It was built by William de Londres, one of the ‘Twelve Knights of Glamorgan’

🔹 Go horse riding in the countryside with Ogmore Farm Riding Centre. £60 for 2 hours, or £40 for 1 hour.

🔹 Eat at The Pelican Inn, a charming traditional pub with heartwarming cuisine with ingredients sourced from local farms.

💥 5 Tips for Affordable Luxury Travel

We all want to go to luxury islands, fancy hotels or even to just try that afternoon tea services that seems way to pricey!

Well… here’s my top 5 tips for having incredible experiences without breaking the bank 🏦

1. Use platforms like or. These are fantastic websites that give up to 70% off deals on luxury hotels. 🤝

2. It’s best to book domestic flights at least 80 days in advance at peak times and 90 days for international. ✈️

3. Travel off season! This won’t only give you a good price on flights and accommodations, but activities, hiring a car, etc. will be cheaper. Plus, you’ll get to experience a new location without the queues of tourists. 🗺

4. Go somewhere with plenty of competition, like the Maldives or Thailand. There’s plenty of hotels to choose from at these destinations, and they’ll usually be competing with each other. 🏖

5. Book on a room-only basis. This doesn’t mean you can’t eat in the hotel, but it does mean you can balance out the cost of the luxury hotel with eating more frequently in reasonably priced places. 🏨
