Born Ernest Njaaga in Nairobi, Jack Rooster has built a strong reputation as one of East Africa’s early Afro-house pioneers. From Nairobi’s club scene to launching the popular Caffè Mocha radio show and the Deeper Sounds of Nairobi podcast, his rise has seen him become a respected figure in the global electronic music space.
Since relocating to Italy five years ago, the DJ and producer has expanded his European presence with performances at luxury venues including Soho House Rome and Edition Rome, while also sharing stages with major African acts such as Black Coffee, Shimza, and Tyler ICU.
The Milan show marks a major milestone in his career, bringing together Kenyan Afro-House sounds and South African Amapiano on one of Italy’s premier nightlife stages.
“This is more than a gig; it’s a full-circle moment,” says Jack Rooster. “From the clubs of Nairobi to the rooftops of Rome and now in Milan alongside Uncle Waffles… the rooster is ready to crow on a bigger stage.”

Anche se il mio cuore e la mia identità musicale restano saldamente legati alla house music, suonare open format mi spinge a crescere. Mi apre la mente, amplia il mio gusto musicale e, soprattutto, affina la capacità di ascoltare davvero: la sala, l’energia, le persone.
Leggere il pubblico è una scienza esatta.
Sapere quando contenersi, quando alzare il livello, come passare dall’aperitivo alla prima portata, al dessert… fino alla pista. Regolare volume, ritmo e atmosfera senza spezzare il flusso: è qui che vive il mestiere.

Last night at Mama Shelter Rome was special.
From 8:30pm to 12:30am, I had the pleasure of taking you on a journey.
While my heart and foundation are deeply rooted in house music, playing open format pushes me in the best possible way. It sharpens my instincts, expands my musical palette, and most importantly, forces me to listen-to the room, to the energy, to the people in front of me.
Reading a crowd is an exact science.
Knowing when to hold back, when to elevate, how to move from apéritivo to first course, dessert… and finally the dancefloor. Adjusting volume, tempo, and vibe without breaking the spell-that’s the craft.
Since moving to Rome, this has been my approach.
Honing the art of versatility hasn’t diluted my sound-it’s strengthened it. It’s made me more intentional, more dynamic, and more connected as a DJ.
Grateful for rooms that allow space to explore, and crowds that trust the journey.

2024 is officially behind us, and we are stepping into 2025 with excitement, gratitude, and ambitious plans ahead!
Looking back, it’s been a year of milestones. The release of my "Field Marshal EP" was a highlight, with tracks like "The Room" and "Mwomboko Santon" resonating deeply and even earning a spot on 's New Music Friday Kenya and Oontz playlists. From holding residencies at iconic venues like SohoHouse and the luxury Rome Edition hotels, to spinning on global stages like ADE, and headlining festivals like Salty's Kilifi, GONDWANA and ADUMA this year has been an unforgettable chapter in my journey.
Closer to home, the Deeper Sounds of Nairobi podcast has continued to thrive as Kenya’s top electronic music podcast. After running for over 12 years, it remains a cornerstone of the local scene, showcasing the best in house music and amplifying our vibrant culture. It’s been incredible to witness how Nairobi has become a global hub for house music, with its distinct sound gaining worldwide recognition.
As we dive into 2025, I’m excited to share what’s ahead:
More Music: Fresh sounds are on the way, with new tracks and projects that push boundaries and tell powerful stories.
More Touring: I’ll continue to bring the house music vibe to stages across the globe, from intimate venues to massive festivals.
