“Queer Encounters” is a series of interviews with friends and strangers I’ve met online. Together, we retell anecdotes from their lives.
The texts are edited to maintain anonymity; please don’t attempt to identify the individuals. While inspired by true events, the stories are reshaped through my writing and perspective, with full consent to share.
It’s funny, because I regularly have days where I feel completely alone. Where I wonder who my real friends are, who to call when things are hard. And I feel guilty sometimes — I am the worse at messages. My phone’s become this endless stream of people asking for guest list, a DJ slot, green room access. Especially around events, it’s hard to stay on top of it.
But weekends like this remind me what really matters. That connection takes tending. That love needs space and time to grow. And that I’m not as alone as I sometimes fear.
