Mr and Mrs Angadi ran The Asian Music Circle, a cultural organisation, from their suburban family home. It was in their living room that BKS Iyengar gave the very first public Iyengar Yoga class in the UK.
The Angadi"s home has a rich and vibrant history having welcomed many musical talents over the years. World renowned violinist Yehudi Menuhin served as president of The Asian Music Circle for a time and Indian classical musicians were booked for recording sessions with artists such as Peter Sellers and The Beatles.
This is the story of a couple, a family, and a home that altered the evolution of British culture.

It’s been an incredible year at Maida Vale, full of highlights to share. Raya Uma Datta joined us for the first time for his Spring Weekend Intensive, a memorable event that brought our 40th Anniversary celebrations to a close.
We were delighted to welcome back Pixie Lillas, Jayne Orton, Garth McLean, and Gabriella Giubilaro. We also hosted our first Maida Vale workshops with Sheila Haswell and Ayesha Devi.
We gave our studios a fresh look and completed essential repairs, ensuring cosy, well-insulated spaces throughout the winter months 🧡
We look forward to welcoming back familiar faces in the new year and to announce some exciting new weekend workshops led by guest teachers as well as summer specials.
We are closed on new year's day and will reopen on 2 January. We wish you all a healthy, happy, peaceful & prosperous 2026! 🙏
