You bet on yourself when you applied.

Artemis II was a momentous occasion, as it was the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon in over 50 years β€” and Ivy graduate Nick Schiefelbein (’22 MBA) helped make it possible.

Schiefelbein contributed to assessing the safety, quality, and functionality of the core stage’s parts as a product review engineer for Boeing, a prime contractor for Artemis II.

The core stage is the distinguishable orange structure of the space launch system (SLS) responsible for generating 2 million lbs of thrust to get the rocket into space.

β€œWith the success of the flight, it proved our repair, rework, or use-as-is recommendations were sound and effective,” he said.

Schiefelbein now works as a production engineering manager, leading a team of product review, manufacturing, industrial, and tooling engineers as they drive the assembly of the Artemis III, IV, and V core stages.
