When I think about 2016, it was such a transformational year for me. I had just graduated high school and had decided to explore the world which meant leaving my loved ones behind in India and embarking on a solo journey to learn about cultures, nationalities other than mine. I was living in Jaipur Rajasthan and was studying engineering in Manipal University when I decided I am going to drop out and leave the country in 2016. It was a bold move I still remember in my hostel thinking “should I leave everyone I love here 🙈😅?”
I remember I was partially excited and partially scared, you see I hadn’t ever lived in another country before. I had just turned 19.
I moved to Auckland, New Zealand and started my bachelors in IT. This was the first time I saw a whole different side of the world. I learnt so much, made many friends. I was in love with the world and knew I would spend the rest of my life travelling and learning and that remains constant even today.
Fun facts- I got my nose, lip and ears pierced and used to wear a choker but couldn’t find those pictures, I also coloured my hair blue at one point haha, I am a lot simpler now I would say 🤣😭
Also 2016 Richa would listen to starboy on repeat 😅♥️
