3. I pivoted out of Quantity surveying into project management in financial services. I'm glad I did this early on and didn't get tied into a career I didn't like. I leveraged contracting which allowed me to scale my pay quickly year on year which made me able to spend & live good whilst also saving too much.
4. Sometimes you hold onto things and people that don't serve you or you cannot serve them. I defo extended my time with some situations more than needed. Learning when to pause and move on is key. 🔑
Not regrets but hindsight is a great tool.
- The first one sticks out the most. I've always wanted to live abroad. New York was my first choice. Then it was Dubai. Then it was anywhere lool I did have one opportunity and I didn't take it because the pay wasn't amazing. Sometimes I do think I should have done it. Gritted it out.
- Sticking to a savings plan was something I only did from my mid 20s. Whilst I saved well, I didn't invest until I was 29. For years people advised me to do and I wish I had 'got in early' but it's fine. It's never too late to reshape how your think about finances though so if you're a late bloomer like me, it's fine.
- I've never had good skin. I struggled with acne and for some reason I never just invested in sorting it out. I was always trying to different products without solidly understanding my skin type and what would work for me. Facial, laser and all the other stuff should have been apart of my life drumbeat
- Solo travel & activities were never a thing for me. I was always 'scared' of doing it. Something that I would encourage anyone to do. I only did it in my 30s and still isn't something I do enough.
- I signed up to a gym when I was 26 lool before that it was F25 or insanity workouts at home for short periods of time. Crash diets. You name it. I do wonder if I had started gym earlier in life if it would just be a regular muscle and the inconsistent bouts wouldn't be a thing!?

We had the best time at in Dubai Hills Mall!
The kids got up to endless building and I saw all of their creativity flowing and lots of smiles that didn’t fade.
The staff were amazing too. Really on hand and supervise your kids having fun whilst learning too.
If you’re looking for a place where kids can truly enjoy and express themselves, this is it.

DEADLINE 31st Jan 2026
1. Head to Invest.dubai.ae and apply for your trade licence. Make sure you download your certificate once approved. This takes around 2-5 days to complete.
2. Get a police clearance certificate and make sure you issue it to the UAE media council (Government sector). This takes 1-2 days to complete. Download the certificate
3. Apply for your 'UAE Advertiser Permit' via uac.gov.ae
Follow the steps. Upload your certificates. Provide your social media urls.
This step can take some time if there's anything wrong. But overall should be quick.
Don't waste time! The deadline is fast approaching.
Remember if you get paid or not, you can still get fined.
Visitors will also need to do this too - I don't fully know the process so please enquire with the relevant government body for advice.
The UAE are introducing a social media advertiser licence / permit requirements for everyone who promotes services or brands within the country. Paid or unpaid.
This also applies if you visit the country too. Paid or unpaid.
A well known influencer was fined 40000 dhs recently. I would 100% not take the risk.

1. We have moved to Dubai during Ramadan and things were still on. I was expecting things to be quiet but there's still been events on, things to do with the kids etc. Dubai is a place that always has a buzz all year round.
2. Just like London if your out every week then your going to spend a pretty penny. Also you can easily pay for convenience here. Anything is possible. People also moan about groceries being high which they are but to me not far off London. I advise is to shop around. There's always deals and as time goes on I know my prices for our staples.
3. I haven't done loads of this yet but for the bit that I have done, I've gained a few gems. My motto is when in doubt, ask. I've joined loads of WhatsApp groups already out here and you'll be surprised how helpful people will be if you in need of information or even help.
4. Dubai is a shiny city and lots of things can get you distracted. It's so important to know your why for being here and doing things that align to that.
