March is Brain Injury Awareness Month.
On September 8, 2023, I got a wake-up call that had long been knocking at my door. I was in a serious motorcycle accident, leaving me to live with a traumatic brain injury.
There are months of my life I don’t remember - September 2023 through June 2024 is mostly gone. That reality is something I’m still learning how to make peace with.
For a long time, my life had very high highs and very low lows. Some of the most visible moments of my life were happening at the same time that I was quietly struggling the most.
But the accident changed everything. Things began shifting within me. It forced me to slow down and begin rebuilding my life in ways I never expected.
Living with a brain injury isn’t easy - there are days when hope feels far away. Healing isn’t linear.
But I’m here.
And so are you.
This season of my life is about something deeper than chasing moments or opportunities. It’s about healing. It’s about letting go. It’s about flow. It’s about surrender.
Hope is here. Some days it feels very tangible, and other days it feels wildly intangible.
If you’re walking through recovery, grief, addiction, or the aftermath of trauma, please know this:
Your story isn’t over.
It is still being written.
Healing is possible, even if it looks different than you imagined.
