Truthfully, it’s been a very tough 12 months for us. Probably the hardest of my life for many, many reasons. While the lows have been very low - there have been some massive highs too!
Biggest news is that we have a new baby! Our little girl joined us a few weeks ago and we’re still very much in the newborn bubble 💕 Our son has adapted to life as a big brother extremely well, tho we’ve had our moments! - and he’s just turned 3 (!) what is tiiiimmme.
As you can see we’ve also had another house addition - a loft conversion! Lots to tell you about with that one - yes, we love having major building work done to the house while I’m pregnant 🫠
I can’t wait to update you on what’s been happening with fixer upper life, and getting your help with new projects.
2026 is going to be about the garden and perhaps actually getting around to the snag list 😅 we’ve been here nearly 6 years now, it’s basically time to redecorate (don’t tell Ross, but I’m mentally redecorating our bathroom!)

I think it’s because it’s one of few views in the house where I don’t immediately see a snag job to do 🤣 that and how we looked out at a 4ft drop for years!
But also I love the way the tiles compliment the red brick and anthracite window frames 👌 we get such beautiful light here in the evenings it’s the perfect place to sit and relax back together as a family at the end of the day 🙏

We were lucky to discover that the original floorboards in the house were in really good condition, having been protected under many layers of carpet and lino over the years!
The process of restoring the floorboards was labour intensive, but so worth it for the end results! I’ve broadly gone through the steps we took in this Reel, but you’ll find more details in the saved highlights, in guides, and two blog posts (link in bio).
Happy to say that two years on the floors are still in good nick, though I will say that we’re not that happy with the finish the matte Osmo Oil gave us. Once the building work is finished downstairs, we’re going to look at retreating the floors. Can’t say I’m looking forward to that!

We bought the house at the end of 2019, can’t believe it’s almost been 3 years 🙊 we then spent 6 months ripping everything out and starting from scratch. The house hadn’t really been touched since the 70s, and it had been two flats at one point so upstairs and downstairs had completely separate water and electric systems (oh and no heating at all upstairs!) We accounted for 3 months before we could move in, but the pandemic put an end to that plan - and we ended up moving in June 2020. We’ve been DIY renovating away ever since! Lots has changed and we’re slowly starting to live in the house we dreamed of all that time ago when our offer was accepted!
