We thank Senator Tammy Baldwin for leading this letter to DHS Secretary Mullin, and Senators Bernie Sanders and Chris Van Hollen for standing with her in demanding Salah’s immediate release.
They raised alarm over his detention as retaliation for protected speech. They demanded answers about his healthcare as a diabetic. They called out the confiscation of his prayer mat. They gave DHS a deadline, May 31st.
This is what organized community advocacy looks like. This is what showing up looks like.
Brother Salah has been detained since March 30th. His next court date is June 10th. The fight continues.
