Sixty years ago, on 13th July 1966, an elderly saint arrived in New York with little more than a trunk of books, forty rupees that had no value in America, and an unshakable faith in the instructions of his spiritual master and in Lord Krishna.
Many saw impossibility.
Śrīla Prabhupāda saw opportunity.
Many saw an unknown monk.
He saw a world waiting to reconnect with Krishna.
Today, sixty years later, that seed of faith has blossomed into a worldwide movement spanning over 100 countries, with thousands of temples, millions of books distributed, countless lives transformed, and millions of sanctified meals served. More importantly, millions of people have discovered purpose, hope, and a loving relationship with God through the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gītā and Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
What changed the course of history was not wealth, influence, or organizational power.
It was the unwavering faith of one pure devotee.
Śrīla Prabhupāda often said that he was simply trying to execute the order of his spiritual master. His life reminds us that when faith is coupled with sincere service, even the impossible becomes possible.
As we celebrate 60 glorious years of ISKCON, I offer my heartfelt gratitude to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Śrīla Prabhupāda—the visionary who changed not only the face of history but also the hearts of millions across the globe.
May we honour his legacy not merely by celebrating this milestone, but by carrying forward his mission with humility, conviction, and compassion.
