Le Alpi erano qualcosa che leggevo nei libri di geografia, quasi astratte.
Vivo in Piemonte ormai da alcuni anni: le Alpi non sono più così lontane, eppure il fascino che emanano è sempre quello della prima volta. Qui non ci si abitua davvero a vederle. Forse perché dalla città a volte si nascondono dietro la foschia, oppure perché quando sono più evidenti lo sono imbiancate, e sta diventando un fenomeno sempre più raro.
Quando vado a fare una passeggiata lì mi sento sempre un ospite, come se varcare la soglia di un sentiero fosse una concessione speciale, straordinaria. Un po’ come accade con tutto ciò che non ci appartiene.
L’altezza, il freddo, il manto soffice che ti fa sprofondare, le tracce degli animali, i rami spezzati, il bosco che circonda il cammino.
