Can fragility become a strength?
Can we, like the phoenix rising from its ashes, transform vulnerability into a powerful rebirth?
Some artists seem born for the stage; others are more introverted. I belong to the second type. The stage was not my natural place to begin with, but it became so when the need to share the music grew stronger than the fear of exposing myself. That was long ago, but there has always been a tension between the two: the desire to hide and the desire to shine.
« There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”… We become acutely aware of our own fragility in moments of failure, during difficult times in life. And yet, it is in these moments that we become aware of our strength. It takes courage to rise again, to acknowledge and accept our fragility, and in doing so, we allow the light to enter.
I had already experienced this in life, but I wanted to confront my own fragility on stage. The programme was conceived to tell this story, but it also became one of the most demanding artistic challenges of my career. Some concerts on the tour were flying high; others were more reserved. Some pieces transformed as the tour unfolded. And at every concert, I asked that question, until the very last performance of the tour.
And there, at last, the answer came.
The answer is yes.
Not because the fear disappears. Not because fragility ceases to exist. But because, when it is embraced rather than resisted, fragility can become a source of authenticity, depth and connection.
What once felt like a weakness can become a strength through vulnerability - the courage to let our fragility be seen.
I am grateful to everyone who has accompanied me on this journey, to all of you who listened to the recording, came to the concerts, commented and shared, and to the journalists for thoughtful articles, reviews and interviews.
And now, I turn the page and look forward to whatever comes next ✨
Thank you to the wonderful team and to everyone who came to the concert from far and near. Meeting so many of you after the concert and seeing all generations come together through classical music was a real joy.

The kind where grace comes to visit you.
These moments are given to musicians as a divine gift. You never know when they might happen.
Yesterday in Amsterdam, I could not have dreamed of a better final concert for the Phoenix tour 🐦🔥
As I write this, I am still deeply moved.
When an artist is touched by grace, everyone in the room is touched by it too.
What does it require? Many things: the quality of the preparation, of the piano, of the audience — but above all, courage.
I have always believed that talent is, above all, courage: the courage to let go of control and allow the music to emerge from its source.
But it is not easy to enter that state of flow. Sometimes it happens for a piece or two, and I am already happy and grateful. When it lasts for an entire concert, it is rare.
It does not mean that everything was perfect. But for me, it was magical.
Thank you for the full house yesterday, for every person who came despite the Netherlands’ playing in the world cup that evening, and for letting me fly ❤️
