Their voices are helping shape the future of the Award, and at the 2026 EMAS Regional Conference in Malta, Adam and Esa played an invaluable role in the conversations happening across the region. From hosting pre-conference consultations with Youth Ambassadors to make sure young peopleโ€™s perspectives informed strategic priorities, to facilitating sessions and moderating discussions with Foundation leadership, they were right at the centre of all of it.

โ€œWe were there to build bridges. I am returning home with a notebook full of ideas and a clear plan to turn these international visions into real support for our youth networksโ€. - Adam Proksch

Adam facilitated the global โ€œThreads of Impactโ€ panel, bringing together senior leaders and Youth Ambassadors to talk about psychological safety and belonging within the Award. He also led the โ€œAward Delivery Excellenceโ€ innovation lab, helping National Operators develop ideas for sustainable growth and stronger quality control systems. Meanwhile Esa co-led discussions on operational sustainability and impact, while making sure youth perspectives were part of conversations on innovation, growth, and the future direction of the Award.

โ€œThis conference felt like a meaningful step forward in integrating youth voice into regional strategic conversations. It demonstrated a growing willingness across the region to think collaboratively, strategically and innovatively about the future of the Awardโ€. - Esa Rehman

To keep the Award relevant, accessible, and impactful, we donโ€™t just champion young people, we let them lead. Our International Youth Representatives are the heartbeat of this mission, shaping the Award from the inside out.

Beyond the vibrant activities taking place on the ground floor during the Award in Action Event, Level 1 at Avenue 77 became a hub for meaningful discussions, networking, and the sharing of good practice among Award Leaders and partners.

The afternoon also hosted a high-level meeting bringing together International Award Foundation Secretary General Martin Houghton-Brown, TSAM, MGG, the outgoing CEO of Aฤกenzija ลปgฤงaลผagฤง, the newly appointed CEO, St Joseph Blata l-Bajda (Kingโ€™s Trust Achieve Pilot Project) and the Head of School at Wardija Resource Centre.

It was a fruitful afternoon centred around collaboration, exchanging experiences, and recognising the importance of a shared language of human skills that builds strong foundations for young people across different sectors and communities.

These conversations and connections continue to strengthen the impact of the Award and reinforce our collective commitment towards youth development and lifelong learning.
