“When I received the email announcing a cruise through Burgundy, France I quickly consulted my wife and with only minimal persuasion, we were booked. This is not the Viking Cruise you see on TV! This is aboard a 52’ canal boat. We took the train to the riverboat base, loaded our gear and shoved off. We headed out onto the Saône River under sunny skies while sipping a French Pouilly-Fume. Morning croissants, pain au chocolate, French butter, fresh coffee, and fruit-all before 9am. Lunches and dinners onboard and in the local towns were delicious. Tadji was the consummate host and chef! Accommodations were lovely in 4 double cabins with en suite head and shower with plenty of hot water! This cruise was incredible. We all took turns at the helm and operating the canal locks. My wife said this was her best vacation ever! The fare included all meals and drinks. We met great new friends on the trip, and I can’t think of a better way to see the French countryside than by river. And yes, we have signed up for another river cruise trip with Tadji in 2027!"

I am Iranian, from my father’s side.
And today, my heart is heavy.
What is happening in Iran is devastating. A regime is killing its own people, people who are asking for something simple and universal: freedom. Iranians are, at their core, a secular people with a rich, ancient culture, now held hostage by an extreme, hard-line system that does not represent them.
I have family in Iran that we have not heard from. With the internet shut down, silence is being forced. The world is not meant to see what is happening. And yet, despite the danger, many brave people are finding ways to send videos and images of the atrocities being committed against their own people.
I have never been to Iran. That is something I carry quietly. But through my father, I have learned the pride, history, poetry, and resilience of the Persian people. A culture that has given so much to the world and deserves so much more than fear and violence.

We were supposed to take the cable car to Aiguille du Midi and then stay at the Refuge du Montenvers which is only accessible by the little red Montenvers Train, but because of the heavy snowfall and high avalanche warning (4 of 5) we had to make due with hanging out in Chamonix. Tough life, huh? Not really. The weekend was magical shared with really great friends. And we have a good excuse to go back.

Nous devions prendre le téléphérique jusqu'à l'Aiguille du Midi et loger au Refuge du Montenvers, accessible uniquement par le petit train rouge du Montenvers. Mais à cause des fortes chutes de neige et du risque d'avalanche élevé (niveau 4 sur 5), nous avons dû nous contenter de Chamonix. La vie est dure, hein? Pas vraiment. Ce week-end était magique, passé avec des amis formidables. Et nous avons une bonne raison d'y retourner.

It’s not just a bridge to cross over, it’s a stage. Everyone comes to watch the Eiffel Tower peeking through in the distance, the river sparkling below, and Hôtel des Invalides standing majestically.
🇫🇷 Le pont Alexandre III est le pont le plus glamour de Paris. Il ne manque jamais de voler la vedette. De ses sculptures dorées aux élégants lampadaires qui brillent doucement sur la Seine.
Ce n’est pas seulement un pont à traverser, c’est une scène. Tout le monde vient admirer la tour Eiffel qui apparaît au loin, le fleuve scintiller en contrebas et l’Hôtel des Invalides qui se dresse majestueusement.

The Palais Garnier, also known as the Opéra Garnier, was originally built as an opera house but today also hosts the Paris Opera Ballet, one of the 4 most prominent ballet houses in the world.
I especially love the Chagall fresco on the ceiling inside the theater; which took him a year to complete and was unveiled to the public in 1964.
You can book tickets to visit the Palais Garnier with a guided tour or a self guided tour.
