Before the children arrive, there’s a classroom that needs to take shape.

The chairs they’ll sit in. The tables they’ll gather around. The spaces between them where learning, making and collaboration happen.

Simple pieces of furniture can shape how children move, work independently, come together and experience different ways of learning.

That’s the power of thoughtful, child-centric design.
This is what our thinking looks like when built.

Our design team imagined one 'Commons by Lila' environment from the ground up, so the idea wouldn't just live in words. Walk through it with us.

Introducing ‘Commons by Lila’, our new offering for shared spaces beyond home.

Think schools, hospitals, libraries, malls, community spaces and more.

Some of the most meaningful spaces a child experiences aren't at home. Think classrooms, libraries, play areas and other shared spaces.

These thoughtful environments don't happen by accident. They're shaped by hundreds of small design decisions that quietly support the way children learn, play and collaborate.

That's exactly the kind of work we love doing.
The Godrej Design Lab Fellow 2026, Rubah Musvee, founder of Lila, reflects on designing furniture that empowers children to shape their own environments and learn through everyday interactions.

Grounded in a behavioural approach, Lila creates furniture that supports children’s growth, confidence, and independence. By giving children greater agency over their surroundings, the studio seeks to foster meaningful behavioural benefits that evolve alongside them.

As part of the Godrej Design Lab Fellowship, Rubah is exploring the design of a simple, adaptable piece of furniture. One that can be rigorously tested and prototyped to serve multiple functions, while providing a lasting foundation for children as they grow, change, and reimagine their world.

One bed, many chapters.

The Morph Bed adapts as your child grows, creating a space that feels just right at every stage.

From bedrooms to classrooms, the pegboard continues to find new ways to belong.

Each space uses it differently, for art, for stories, for learning, for play, yet the intention remains the same: to help children explore, create, and grow with independence.

Built on modular design, the pegboard adapts effortlessly to every environment. It can expand, rearrange, or evolve as needs change, making it as dynamic as the children who use it.

Simple in form and endlessly adaptable in function. That’s the beauty of the pegboard. ✨
We’re back with another fun unboxing video of the Lila.grow Pegboard.

While the assembly is simple and quick, the most exciting part is always accessorising it. In this setup, we’ve created a cosy little art corner with coloured pencils, paintbrushes, and a few books for inspiration. Everything is placed thoughtfully within arm’s reach.

Every pegboard can become something completely unique. How would you style yours?
