6 months ago I stopped posting on social media and people in my dms have been worried. I wanted to clear up that I'm not offline because I'm doing bad health wise or any other way!!! π
I've documented my IBD and ostomy journey for about 3 years. I wrote down everything I knew/experienced and educated people about illness and ostomies. I listened to heartbreaking stories, to the cries for help. I took people 'with me" on my ig stories and welcomed you all in my life every day. 6 months ago it felt like my journey was somehow finished though.
It was finally time for me to live life without having to think about my disability every moment of the day. It's able for me to do this because I'm the most stable I've ever been, remission yayyyy! ππ π₯³
I'm not planning on posting again any time soon, but never say never.
I wanted to let those who followed me on my journey know that I'm doing really well and *if you have any questions please drop them below* and I'll definitely answer them! π
Take care yall! π
Big hug π€ and lots of love from the Netherlands,
Wieke & LizzyπΆ
For the people with a uterus, period poops are a known thing right!?! π€·ββοΈ
Just before your period begins, the cells that make up the lining of your uterus begin producing more prostaglandins. These chemicals stimulate the smooth muscles in your uterus to help it contract and shed its lining each month.
If your body produces more prostaglandins than it needs, theyβll enter your bloodstream and have a similar effect on other smooth muscles in your body, like in your bowels. The result is more poop.
DID YOU KNOW that even with an ostomy, period poops can affect some of us!? π
So no, I don't poop normal, I don't have a rectum, everything is stitches up. But phantom poops are a thing. A big thing. An annoying (sometimes pretty painful) thing!
The phantom pooping sensation is a common occurrence for many ostomates. Some people experience it hardly ever. Some people back to back where it affects their life in a debilitating way.
The *phantom period poops* are just an extra little gift for us uterus ostomy owners π
The only way to release the discomfort/pain of phantom pooping is to just go to the toilet like you would normally, and pretend! π After that the feeling should fade away.
So if you are wondering why your phantom pain is increased during your period, that's why! π

It's been a long road but I can finally say I've accepted all my flaws. I embrace my ostomy so fully. And when people make nasty comments about it, they don't hurt me. I don't feel them. They don't even come in.
-What does hurt me though, is when those negative messages are commented on my page, for everyone to see. You can hate ostomies all you want. But it's very dangerous to put ostomies in such a bad light. I have many followers who are insecure about their stoma, or might need a bag in the future. I don't want those people to read what some guys send me. I want to protect those who haven't accepted their ostomy yet. Or those who might need one-β€
I can take all the crap about ostomies. I love mine, and nothing they say will convince me otherwise!
"Once you've accepted your flaws, no one can use them against you"
I now truly believe that β€
Feeling sexy truly is a mindset. It does not depend on your size, weight, appearance nor disability. IT'S A STATE OF MIND! And no matter what you look like, feeling sexy, radiating it... makes you sexy af!!! π
And I mean that about every size, I truly do!

I've just posted in my story a little bit about my experience with Humira and some thoughts on that subject.
(HUMIRA is a medicine called a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker. HUMIRA targets and blocks TNF-alpha. TNF plays a role in the process that causes inflammation. Because TNF blockers, including HUMIRA, affect the immune system, they can lower the ability to fight infections and may cause other serious side effects.)
I've said that I'm also baffled by some people telling others they shouldn't be using medication.
What someone does with, or put in their body, is none of your business.
With that said. I started with the Humira trials in 2006, as one of the first people here. It was a trial, but maybe when you see the left photo, you understand you'd go for whatever option you have left. Even if that option might be scary and uncertain. All part of chronic illness life!
Humira has a long list of side-effects, and many of them are severe and are not that rare to happen. I've had sepsis (blood infection) because of it and it nearly killed me. But that left foto without Humira, I mean I was seriously more dead than alive!!!
Medication is not the solution to everything, and no... people shouldn't think about it lightly at all. But you have to keep putting things in perspective!
So I still to this day choose to take my Humira, and that right foto from just now says it all I think ππΌ
(The side-effects I'm experiencing from Humira are not that severe, joint pain is the most debilitating thing I'm experiencing though. The rest is not even worth mentioning)
Never shame people for making decisions without knowing what they had to choose from β€
No wrong way either π€·ββοΈ Because what you might think of as wrong, might be the right choice for them and their body/life!
It is already really difficult navigating through life with a chronic and/or invisible illness. Let alone if people think they need to lecture you on how to live it the best way.
Unsolicited advice is just meddling.
Everyone knows their own body the best, let everyone handle their chronic illness as to what they feel is right ππΌβ€
And as a matter of fact, it shows strength! Because it's a hard road to take, but we still show up and do it πͺπΌ
I promise you, you are so worthy, don't you doubt that! β€

I know I've been really absent lately, what a year!!! π€―
Thank you for those who stuck around, for those who kept checking up on me β€
Thank you for all the amazing people who keep sharing their ostomy and/or chronic illness life ππΌ #awareness
I've never grown as much as I did this year. I fought so many battles, but I fought!
Therapy helped, medication helps, and the support of my family and friends is so precious.
Something I struggled with was PMDD, Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It's a health problem that is similar to Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) but is more serious. Way more serious, because this version really affects your mental health and it can easily get so bad that suicide thoughts occur, and in my case it controlled my life in such a way that I really needed help.
So I went to therapy, then got medication. No more alcohol, no more coffee, a healthy active lifestyle and I really have to stay mindful of my body and mind.
I took this year to focus on myself. To put social media aside, block out the world to focus on myself and I'm really glad I did because I feel so much better!
I know I'm not obligated to explain why I went MIA π€ͺ But you all know how much I value telling the whole story, this was a really short version and I probably will talk about it in depth later on!
For now, Heyππ» I missed you all, truly did. Anyone something they wanna share? πβ€
