Meet Jazz, the cutest Boston Terrier you ever did see! 🐾

Jazz is a 4½-year-old Boston Terrier with a huge personality packed into her adorably chunky 34-pound frame. She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being around people and will happily climb into your lap to shower you with kisses whenever possible. Jazz is potty trained, sleeps quietly through the night in her crate, and has done well meeting young children. She’s playful, active, and always up for fetch, tug-of-war, or convincing someone to rub her belly. She’s also shown a lot of interest in playing with the resident dog, but since the resident dog is a laid-back senior, she hasn’t exactly matched Jazz’s enthusiasm. We think Jazz would do great with another playful dog who enjoys a little rumpusing.

Jazz is currently working on getting into better shape, and she’s already embracing the lifestyle with regular walks and playtime. Luckily, being active comes naturally to her. She can get a little overly excited sometimes, but she responds well to redirection and correction. Overall, she’s a pretty easy dog whose main goal is to live her best life.

The best way to describe Jazz is that she’s pure joy. She dramatically lays on her back for belly rubs, snores through naps like she pays the bills, and somehow makes everything funnier just by existing. Her goofy personality, happy energy, and endless love for attention make her impossible not to smile around. If you’re looking for a dog that will keep you laughing, keep you company, and fully commit to being your little shadow, Jazz is ready to audition for the role.

Jack (now Bear!) found himself homeless when his owners moved and couldn’t take him with. He was in our care for several months when a previous adopter saw him and fell in love.

Bear now lives with his sister, Freya (also an IDR alum!) and looks like he’s hit the jackpot! ⭐️

Success stories like these are what keep us going. Thank you to all of our foster homes, adoptive homes and volunteers! Because of you, orphaned dogs like Jack/Bear get a second chance at the life they deserve.

Kree had a little photoshoot this week at her foster home! Which hat do you like best?

This sweet, fun, playful 5 year old girl is still waiting for her forever home. She's great with other dogs and loves to play fetch! We're hoping to find her forever family soon, as she has been with us for quite some time. Can you share this post to help get her some exposure?

Meet Tara! This sweet 9-month-old girl came to us when another group asked for help placing her. When she first arrived to them, she had clearly been through a lot – she was extremely thin and not socialized. As she settled in and felt more secure, she’s really started to shine.

Tara now walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and is learning to look to her handler for direction. She’s eager to engage and continues to make great progress every day.

She was initially very fearful of other dogs, but with patience and proper exposure, she was introduced to other dogs with the previous group so likely would be fine with other dogs after a slow introduction.

Tara would do best in a Doberman-experienced home that can provide the structure, consistency, and leadership she thrives on. She’s a young dog with a lot of potential and is more than ready to find a home where she can keep moving forward.

Nina Ballerina is READY FOR THE WEEKEND!!! ☀️

Look at this cutie! How does she not have ANYONE interested?!

This adorable tan-blonde beauty is a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua weighing about 10 pounds, and she’s the perfect mix of sweet, funny, and quietly charming! She's good with dogs, and her demeanor makes us think she'd be find with cats.

Casmir is another Dobe that ended up at CACC in Chicago. He doesn't know what he did to end up there, but we grabbed him and he is on the mend with us.

We don't know too much about him as he still needs a foster home.

Toby doesn't know why it's taking so long to find his forever home! Can you share his post so we can try to find his people?

Toby is a 2-year-old Pomeranian mix with a huge personality packed into a tiny body!

From the moment he arrived in foster care, Toby settled in like he’d always been there. He’s smart, confident, curious, and full of spunky charm. He loves walks, toys, chew bones, and anything that keeps his mind busy. He’s also very food-motivated and eager to learn—he already has good house manners and happily sits for treats (sometimes with a little extra flair on his hind legs).

Toby can be vocal when meeting new people or experiencing new things. He’ll bark to let you know what he thinks—but if you give him a little time and some guidance, he settles in and shows his true self: loyal, affectionate, and deeply bonded to his person. He just needs someone willing to look past that initial noise and give him a fair shot.

He has done well with other dogs after proper introductions and could live with a respectful canine companion. Because of his sensitivity and energy, he’d do best with older, dog-savvy kids. Cats are unknown.

Toby is crate trained, settles well at night, and thrives with structure and consistency. Due to his vocal nature, a home (rather than an apartment) would be ideal.

At the end of the day, Toby isn’t a “plug-and-play” dog—but for the right person, he’s an incredibly rewarding one. He’s smart, funny, devoted, and full of life. All he needs is someone willing to give him the time he deserves.

If you’re looking for a loyal, entertaining, and loving companion, Toby is ready—and more than worth it.

Hello, Dottie!!

This 3-year-old female Doberman is fresh from Chicago Animal Care & Control after being found stray on the streets of Chicago, and somehow she’s still one of the sweetest girls around. Dottie got her name from the adorable little speckle pattern sprinkled across her chest and even her toes – basically she was born accessorized!!

So far, she’s been nothing but loving and happy to soak up attention. We’re still getting to know her, so we don’t yet know how she does with dogs or cats. As always, we recommend slow introductions with any new animal friends.

Right now, Dottie really needs a foster home where she can relax and show off her spotted toes. Sign up to foster with IDR+ today!

MILO UPDATE! Swipe for Glow Up! ✨💫

April 27, 2026:

It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since Milo joined us! He is now just over 40 lbs and his wounds have almost completely healed. He knows a few tricks/commands (sit, down, stay) and learning touch, dance, and drop it. and doing well with crate training. He is the sweetest boy but does think he’s a lap dog. He loves kids but due to him being a big puppy, older kids would be best. He is also good with dogs and cats. He’s a snuggle bug and prefers to sleep next to someone – human or dog is fine with him.

Milo would love a forever home with older kids to help get his energy out or a friendly dog pal!

Thank you to all who donated to help support Milo’s journey, and thank you to Milo’s foster family for giving this boy the chance he deserves at a good life.
