It has been a while since I’ve been sooo beginner at something that was pretty difficult to learn. This challenge has been so beneficial for me for so many reasons! Having something to be excited for in winter… having to exercise the “if you fall, get back up again and again and again” muscle… and the mental stimulation from learning and practicing a difficult sport… I mean I’m obsessed with snowboarding & everything that comes with it!! 🤙🏼

Finding these trails on search: “Anemone Point” and “Red Rocks Spur Loop”🏔️
You’ll want to park at the Centennial Trailhead parking lot. If you decide to do both of these trails, it’s about 3.5 miles total. I’d consider these hikes easy to moderate! There are also a bunch of other trails you can hike if you park at Centennial, including one of my faves- Mount Sanitas 🏔️

Ultimately? Nothing is going to change for me. I’m still going to get outside and enjoy our public lands. I’m still going to practice safety measures & do what I can to prevent something like that happening. It’s important to remember that when in the wild, wild things can happen. You’re in nature’s playground and it’s important to be mindful and respectful of the land and the animals. That being said, fatal attacks like this are SO rare. And I think that’s important to remember too.

Snowboarding has been such a blessing this winter, and I do not take it for granted. Having the ability to try something new and work toward accomplishing new things every single time I go has been AMAZING for my brain. Wildflowers in Crested Butte are so insanely accessible! You don’t even have to really hike to get some insanely amazing views. Personally, I felt like 3 days in CB was absolutely perrrfect (and technically was more like 2 because the first and second days were both 1/2 days)👌🏼

So we did, but now I know better. You CAN camp in designated campsites marked with a post with the site number and universal camping symbol.

BONUS— if you have a high clearance vehicle, I recommend checking out Emerald Lake off Gothic road! We had to skip it unfortunately as our cars definitely couldn’t make it over some of the potholes, but it looks INSANE 🥹
🐶 CB is also super dog friendly! Dogs can go on pretty much all the hikes, just be sure to keep them leashed and pick up after them 💩 Most restaurants have patios where you can bring your pup as well.
