Before any service is performed at our studio, during the initial phone call with the client, we always ask whether the vehicle will be brought in clean. If the car is dirty, we ask the client to stop by any car wash — even a quick touchless wash is enough. Our main requirement is that the vehicle is clean at the time of drop-off and paperwork completion.
This is extremely important because it allows us to properly inspect the vehicle for any existing damage. If a car is accepted while dirty and, after washing, scratches, dents, or other damage are discovered, there is a risk that the client may disagree that those issues were already there.
If the client says the damage was not present before, but the vehicle was already accepted and signed in, the responsibility falls entirely on you. And that’s a problem no one needs.
There is a very simple solution: always accept the vehicle clean. During intake, note any existing damage on the work order and have the client review and sign it, confirming they are aware of any imperfections if they exist.
