1970’s Noseriders Gold Label Encinitas. If you walked into Donald’s Encinitas Shop in the mid/late 70’s and were looking for a Noserider, you likely walked out with one of these under your arm. The square tail is an 8-10 and based off the Nuuhiwa Model he designed at Bing a decade earlier. The Double Ender is a 9-5 and based on a similar shape he did with Jacobs in the mid sixties. Rainbow fins are the finishing touch🌈

Not many of these sold in the 70’s due to lack of demand and even fewer survived. But…you can still ride these famous D.T. Designs today as the Double Ender & The Classic Noserider are both still popular or, there’s a similar Gold Label Square Tail up for grabs 🤩
Is high-level surfing in every-day lineups dead? Prove me wrong. Is the trend toward user-friendly surfboard designs hurting the level of surfing skill in most lineups? How do we raise the bar? Is ripping dead? Discuss pls.
Diamond Tail in the rough, first find of 2026! This board rattled around on OfferUp for a month. I knew it “might” be something special, but it was hammered (needing 17 repairs) and with a deck so scuffed from a grinder, you could barely make out the inscription. I decided to take a chance on it knowing it needed a lot of TLC (time, labor, cash). Before I took it to my Glass Guru (who made it look like it does here), I did a side by side with a Joel Tudor Model I have and it was identical. After sharing this with my suspicions are confirmed. It’s a 1990 Joel Tudor Pro Model before they introduced the Iconic Laminates that adorned them in subsequent years. This will make a great, worry free, vintage rider with tons of style🤩

This model is still available today but is now known as the DT3. In fact, if I’m not mistaken has 2 New ones on the rack🤔
Thank you and!
Nat Young Animal Model. It’s summertime in OZ, so let’s talk about Nat Young G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time - longboarder). He collaborated with Donald on 2 Pro models in the 80’/90’s, The Malibu Sam and The Animal Model pictured here.

It’s a 2 plus one with glass on side bites, a performance shape for beach/reef breaks, and came in 2 tail configurations (squash and rounded pin). The unusual spiked turtle known as the dinosaur (drawn by Nat’s daughter) surrounds the Nat Young logo and differentiates it from the Malibu Sam Model (single fin, no dinosaur). Today the single fin version is available from 🌺Hawaiian Pro Designs🌺 and known simply as “The Animal.”

But…there is a Nat Young “Dinosaur Model” up for grabs, a New 9-6

Dick Brewer's impact on modern performance surfing and Surfboard design is unmatched and unquantifiable. His roster of Surfers and Shapers alike are a who's who of Hall of Famer's. We are fortunate to still have some of Richard Brewer's contemporaries and students to tell the stories firsthand and to re-create and build on the designs that have delivered us to where we are today. Names like Gerry Lopez, Reno Abellera, Steve Morgan, Owl Chapman, Gary Linden, and only a few more... Joe Blair is a surfboard surfing and shaping legend in his own right, and put in some years in the 1970s shaping for Brewer.
You will see his designs today under the feet of Joel, Tosh and now Judah Tudor, as well as countless other notables.
Joe brought two of the designs from the most recent and shared not only some design gems but some of the story that ties it all together.
Enjoy.
The David Nuuhiwa Model. These two boards are 2nd generation, an homage to the 60’s version, and were in production during the 1980’s. This model had turned down rails, a shallower nose concave, and more thickness throughout than the 60’s version. The Nuuhiwa Model is likely the most sought after vintage pro model in the HPD stable.

Today, The Classic Noserider is the 3rd generation and based on the original templates with some modern adjustments. The following is the Classic Noserider Inventory in Southern California as of 12/20/25: has 1 new 9-8

Of course you can custom order the size and configuration of your preference:

Model T’s 25 years apart. Released in 1997, its was a collaboration between Joel Tudor and Donald, and based on a 60’s design D.T. did while at Jacobs. The Tudor Laminate Veteran Model T 9’6” is one of the 1997 Originals, while the Ice Blue Double Redwood 9’4” is a 2022 Charles Kirkley shape. Side by side you can see how true the design has remained. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a Model T under the tree!

The following is the Model T inventory in Southern California as of 12/11/25:

has 2 new, a 9-2 and a 10-2, and a used 10-2
has 3 new, a 9-6, a 9-8, and a 10-0, and a used 9-9
has 4 new, a 9-5, two 9-6’s, and a 9-8

Of course you can custom order the size and configuration of your preference 🤙🏽Mele Kalikimaka🤙🏽
