Making my entrance in the technicolour coat! It’s the only thing that’s getting me through January (as well as dumplings). 💜🩵🩷🧡❤️

This outfit is loosely based on what styled for me on, had completely forgotten that this skirt complemented an old jumper perfectly. Managed to cycle in it even though long skirts aren’t the best, swipe to see how I think I look on a bike and how I actually look. 😂

I’ve never had hips, so I bought some online in the sale. 😅

I’d been aware of the Body Hip Enhancing Padded Shorts for a while but the price put me off. Then they went down to £30 and I had to summon Apple Pay. 🤑 I had to take one for the team and channel my inner Drag Race contestant!

They’re definitely subtle on me as my waist isn’t that defined but I really like them with the jeans? I had made peace with my lack of hips so my wardrobe is geared towards that but I like having these as an option for certain looks. I’ve never had to wear a padded bra so this is a bit surreal!

Would you click and collect some hips? 😂

You want a 2016 throwback? Ok then! 😅 This was such an interesting time to be a fashion blogger. I was ‘released’ from my management but actually ended up earning more money. I travelled to Rotterdam, Copenhagen and Singapore through work. I had green hair! I also did my first podcast interview, spoke on a podcast and was featured in when it was a magazine. I don’t even think we were called influencers then? Remember I started in 2008! 👵🏾

Yes I know I’ve gained weight. Someone on YouTube commented and said I needed to diet because ‘they didn’t recognise the thin and stylish person I used to be.’ Ouch. I am at peace with how I look now. I wasn’t necessarily happier and probably had more anxiety (case in point, I had random blisters that confused my gp). I think that some people project because they wouldn’t be able to deal with weight gain, but this is not the worst thing in the world when we put it into perspective. I have some iconic photos to look back at and that’s enough for me!

What were you wearing back in 2016? Did you love a skinny jean?

{ad - pr 👖} The barrel leg agenda almost got me, do I even need new jeans? My bank balance is saying no! 🤔

After trying on three different styles, I think I like the volume of them but just needed a different material. Also according to, I only have one pair of ‘proper’ jeans in my wardrobe, but seven pairs of trousers with an elasticated waist. I typically dress for comfort and love the look of a looser top and baggier trousers these days. It’s also a lot more sustainable to stick to flexible styles, I’ve had to buy multiple sizes of jeans in the past few years and then sell old pairs on Vinted. It’s a faff!

Gaining weight means retraining your brain and reminding yourself that it’s okay to have different proportions to the model. Also you don’t need to show off your ‘assets’ all the time. Yes I love to show a bit of leg or boob but sometimes I want to play with volume (plus it was super cold last week). I don’t think showing off cleavage necessarily makes it look smaller or less noticeable than covering it up. They’re still the same boobs! 😅

Love this pair! I can now play around with this shape and I’m more likely to wear these. After doing my research, what I really think I’m missing is a voluminous bomber style jacket (though my puffers may work). Maybe Mum will let me borrow hers? 😅

Have you bought into this trend or nah?

First full week of January? Completed it mate! How did you make it through? 🙌🏾

I’ve been leaving the house every day for my mental health because if I don’t go out, I don’t see anyone (apart from Royal Mail). Sometimes it’s just for an emotional support cappuccino and sometimes I head further afield. I can cope with 1 degree weather if there’s no rain! 🤞🏾

Lovely to finally visit the buzzy and try the pizza with vodka sauce. 😋 I’ve got a bit of a January bucket list, so I’m hoping that and will be next. Also love wearing colour to brighten things up, so glad I bought this poloneck. I know everyone’s talking about 2016 and this pinafore is definitely something I would have worn back then. Swipe to the end to see one of my old school blogger poses! 😂

There’s also the first vlog of 2026 up on YouTube, just search Kristabel! 😘

Come with me to get a hair MOT at! I’d spotted this place all over social media so decided to book a much needed wash, treatment and trim. 💆🏾‍♀️

My goal last year was to look after my hair better but I didn’t really break down what that meant. Please remind me to take my braids out after 6 weeks! 😂 I felt overwhelmed for a while but I’ve looked at the advice and worked out I need a clarifying shampoo, then hydrating shampoo, deep conditioner, moisturiser and sealant. I was scared to see how much hair needed to be trimmed but it wasn’t that bad?

Everyone at was so lovely! I’ve had so many bad experiences in the past, from the stylists who would smoke in the salon (this was in the 2000s) and another who made me cry after trying to force a wig on my head. The service started promptly and everything seemed really organised. The best thing is that you can order to your chair. I went to the takeaway afterwards and I might need to make jollof rice a weekly thing. 😋😋😋

Which Afro hair salon should I try next? Or should I make shampoo then suya my new routine? Tell I sent you if you visit!

This coat is now my new personality, why was I considering sending it back?! I think it could solve the loneliness epidemic! 😂

A load of my old coats don’t fit me so this x number came at the right time. The exaggerated silhouette has grown on me and what with the Met Gala theme and Marc Jacobs playing with proportion, sometimes looking smaller is not the be all and end all. I’ve worn it for the past four days and I tend to have something like ‘Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels’ playing on Spotify as I strut. Can’t have the music too loud so I can hear all the compliments!

Did you manage to get this coat? Can we twin? 👯‍♀️

Since it’s the start of a new year, I thought I’d re-introduce myself! I’m Kristabel, an influencer in my late 30s (😱😱😱) and living in London. Originally from South, but I’ve been North of the river for 12 years now. 🥂🍱🥟🍣☕️

Fun fact, my Mum named me after the suffragette Christabel Pankhurst but changed the spelling because she watched a lot of Dynasty. I think she’s the original Kris Jenner! Make sure you follow her over at and tell her to post more. 🙌🏾

This space is a mixture of midsize fashion, intentional travel and lifestyle with strong beliefs thrown in for good measure. The 2020s have been….interesting but I’m hoping that 2026 will be my year! Some of my goals are the same but I’m trying to be more specific, so instead of just ‘look after my hair better’, I’m breaking it down. 💆🏾‍♀️

Did I also mention that I’ve lived in New York? I’d love to know something about you and thank you so much for following along! 😘

My favourite room in my flat. I like to think of it as a modern version of a Caribbean front room, with clashing patterns, crochet and Midcentury furniture. Did anyone else’s family still have the plastic on the sofa?!

Remember the Evening Standard Power 1000 back in 2013? You probably don’t. I was named as an influential Londoner but thought that I wasn’t supposed to be there as they’d got my age wrong and put me in the ‘25 under 25’ category. Cue a boatload of imposter syndrome. It took me approximately four more years to start believing in myself.

Like says, getting a mentor in 2017 definitely helped me to reframe things. I’m also lucky to have press clippings and interviews going back to 2011, as well as lovely comments and messages from some of you. This has really kept me going for almost 15 years!

I loved this point from ’s newsletter. If you’re an influencer, freelancer or small business owner and having some wobbles, just know that you’re contributing to a bigger cultural shift.
