What started in Berlin in 2018 with three best friends and a shared idea of the kind of dance floor we wanted to lose ourselves in has travelled further than we ever imagined — across clubs, cities and continents, through countless friendships, encounters and musical exchanges along the way.
But Mala Junta has always been about much more than the parties themselves. Over the years, a family of artists, collaborators and friends has grown around it. Mala Junta Records launches with a 22-track compilation bringing together artists, friends and collaborators who have been part of our world over the years — not to define one “Mala Junta sound”, but to reflect the sounds, stories and relationships that have grown around it.
Featuring Audrey Danza, Pablo Bozzi, Jen Cardini, Decoder, DJ Babatr, DJ Fuckoff, DJ Swisherman, DJ TOOL, EOIN DJ, GAEL, Hyperaktivist, IN2STELLAR, Julie Desire, Kancheli, Kim Ann Foxman, Mabel, Mary lake, Monophonik, Oldyoungmaynn, Priori, Regal86, Whrikk and Yazzus.
The release also carries a principle that has been part of Mala Junta from the beginning: community doesn’t stop at the club door. 100% of proceeds will be donated to, supporting their work providing financial and legal assistance to people facing repression or criminalisation for showing solidarity with Palestine.
