London Allotment life

I’ve been down here every day for the last two weeks so thought I’d give you a little tour. It’s a constant work in progress - new beds still to be sorted and more planting to come but this is it at the moment. Hopefully it’ll come to life more over the next few months. Can’t believe I’m still in London sometimes 🩷 genie x
It’s been a while…
Nearly a month in fact! Towards the end of March I was not in a good place so thought the best thing was to have a week off - this ended up being nearly 4 weeks. It’s done my head a world of good and definitely ready to come back. I’ve spent a lot of time down the allotment, spending time outside in the sunshine and less time on a screen. A break does wonders sometimes doesn’t it? How have you all been? I’ve also been back in the office for a few weeks over Easter holidays and spent the Easter long weekend down in Whitstable. Back into my cooking too which is always a good sign! Looking forward to catching up with what everyone’s been up too, genie xx
More richness!
Definitely something I’m trying to add into my home room by room - and more recently much more wood: on walls and using cork on floors too. What do you think of this audio and do you agree? Genie x
It’s strange how things work out…

Hi, I’m Genie, an art director and designer, and I started this account 4 years ago today as a way to show family and friends our new home (it was the 2nd year of Covid and people were still isolating/not travelling after Xmas) It was a way to keep creative while I couldn’t work (young kids and constant school closures meant I couldn’t freelance ) so I started decorating, adding colour & posting more. Loved this time as it allowed me to be a bit more confident and make some new friends on here, plus creating content for other people and companies 🩷
Fast forward four years now and life has got busier recently with design work so I’ve not been on here as much as I’d love to be, quieter on the interiors front as we save up for the next big projects - hallways and bathrooms! Definitely doing a bit more food nowadays which is all over my stories, and I hope to post more on the main grid once I get back into the swing of things. You’ll also see a bit more of the allotment and growing all our veg as it gets into summer. Anyway… always glad to have posted that first shot of my peace lily šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’š genie xxx
Ad/ If you want to challenge yourself a bit more in the kitchen and love a meal kit, then this is the box for you! has so many world food recipes to choose from, I picked something I love to get for a takeaway treat, but really wanted to know how to make it for a date night with Tom - Crispy chilli beef and egg fried rice. The recipes are so easy to follow, with beautiful quality ingredients - (seriously, bashing that beef was a proper anger management) and all the sauces came in little jars that I can reuse at a later stage! If you want to check out what other fakeaways and meals you can create at home, you can get 20% off your first box at by using my code GENIE20 ā¤ļø happy cooking!

We have the hallways and bathroom, plus small utility, to go, but I don’t think we’ve done too badly so far! Project hallway starts in the summer this year…

I have a thing for vintage furniture on wheels… a closer look at the Vintage 1960’s barrel bar - just adore this piece 🧔 like the Kitchen Island you all love so much, this movable bar can be placed where ever it’s needed… what do you think about a movable bar?

Genie x

EDIT: It’s squishy as it’s sponge covered in vinyl (made to look like wood!) šŸ˜‚

AD/ I’ve been teasing this transformation with you over the last week, but here it is, the girl’s room update with ’s new wallpaper collection ā€˜Storybook Papers’, in association with The National Trust. The design I’ve used is called Broad Stripe in the colourway Pea Green. I don’t think I could have got a more perfect match for this room šŸ’š My Girls, Belle and Aubrey, have a 4 year age gap so it’s always hard finding a design that they both love. By choosing a classic stripe, I’m hoping this is a design that will last many more years.

Colour wise, it worked perfectly with the fireplace (original tiles, and painted in Little Greene’s deep green shade, Garden), yellow ceiling (painted in Little Greene’s Indian Yellow) and the warm white walls painted in the creamy white shade, Stock. I did have to paint over the pink to make it work!

But, what do you think? I’m in love and for my first time wallpapering I don’t think I did too bad a job. And, apart from the fireplace, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.

Little Greene’s ā€˜Storybook Papers’ launches today and features eight charming designs in a range of beautiful colourways. More details of the children’s collection on my Stories. šŸ’š

The thing is with vintage…
Buy it when you see it! I must admit there’s been a few items (West German pottery) I’ve seen in vintage and second hand shops, that I said to myself I’ll think about, and by the time I’ve decided to buy it, it’s gone. So upsetting! What’s your regret when it comes to not buying a vintage item when you see it? Genie xxx

This audio! Someone asked me the other day how I would ever sell my house with such a colourful kitchen. My home is full of colour, life and joy and things that mean something to me. I couldn’t imagine not having colour in my life. I’m not decorating to sell, I’m decorating to live and I’m not planning to move any time soon. I’ve not even finished all the rooms yet šŸ˜‚ Anyone else? Genie xxx

EDIT: I’ve just been told the audio is from a podcast from Hilarie Burton and Sophia Bush 🧔
