スフィンクスは、時に守護神、時に人を試すトリックスターとして世界各地の神話に登場します。本作において彼らは、自然と人工、野性と理性、動物と人間といった境界を象徴しています。

この度GASBON METABOLISMでは、久保寛子個展「赤土」関連イベントとして「HIROKO KUBO Solo Exhibition Party Special Guest Live Paformance OMA + Shing02 & SPIN MASTER A-1」を開催いたします。
ヒップホップMC・プロデューサーのShing02とDJ／プロデューサーのSPIN MASTER A-1、イギリス／ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するバンド OMA によるスペシャルライブと、ゲストパフォーマーたちを迎え、彫刻家・久保寛子の個展「赤土」の世界観と響き合うパーティーである本イベントは、久保寛子とShing02による、長年のリスペクトから生まれました。
久保寛子はGASBONで個展を開催予定であり、Shing02は過去にGASBONに滞在していたことがあります。以前から互いの活動に敬意を抱いていたという両者が、今回あらためてGASBONという共通の接点を通して、この場所だからこそ実現できる企画として、本イベントを開催する運びとなりました。
会場となるGASBON METABOLISMは、ギャラリー、アーティスト・イン・レジデンスなどの機能を備えたアート複合施設として、これまでさまざまなアーティストやクリエイターの交流の場となってきました。本イベントは、展覧会を鑑賞するだけではなく、音楽と人との出会いを通じて作品世界をより立体的に体験する機会となります。

この度GASBON METABOLISMでは、久保寛子個展「赤土」を開催いたします。
本展では福井・金津創作の森美術館で開催されている個展「青の太陽 緑の月」にて展示された作品群をベースに、GASBON周辺の土地へのリサーチと、本展のタイトルでもある「赤土」というテーマを軸に、新たな構成で展示いたします。
制作の多くを研究やフィールドワークに費やす久保は、GASBONを初めて訪れた際、日本最古の神社の一つである諏訪大社や、縄文土器・土偶を収蔵する釈迦堂遺跡博物館にも立ち寄りました。
そこで神道以前の信仰や八ヶ岳山麓に根付く土着文化に強く惹かれたといいます。
さらに、メキシコで出会った古代マヤ・アステカ文明の遺物と日本の先史文化への共鳴、そして現在拠点としている千葉県旭市で採取される赤い粘土「カベト」との出会いが重なり、本展の構想へとつながりました。
「赤土」は、異なる時代や土地に存在する信仰や文化を横断し、それらを結びつける媒介として立ち現れます。
GASBONの広大な空間に、久保寛子による大型彫刻やインスタレーション作品が展開され、鑑賞者の身体感覚を巻き込みながら、空間全体をひとつの体験へと変えていきます。
また会期中に展示内容が変化する構成も予定しており、訪れる時期によって異なる風景をご覧いただけます。
八ヶ岳南麓の自然とGASBONの建築空間の中で展開される久保寛子の世界を、ぜひご体感ください。
会期前日の6月20日（土）には、本展出品作品のひとつ《ハイヌウェレの彫像》の制作を体験できるワークショップを開催いたします。
インドネシアの神話に登場する女神であるハイヌウェレをモチーフにした本作の土塗り作業を参加者とともにおこないます。
子どもから大人まで、どなたでもご参加いただけますので、リンクの予約フォームよりご予約ください。
また、7月11日（土）には、世界的なヒップホップMC・プロデューサーであり、久保と互いの作品をリスペクトする仲であるアーティストのShing02、そしてUKとLAを拠点に活動するバンドOMAのライブイベントを開催します。
久保寛子の作品が展示される空間のなかでShing02とOMAによるパフォーマンスを楽しめる貴重な機会となります。ライブの詳細は後日発表いたします。

キッズたちが通学路沿いに設置されていくアート作品やアーティスト、そしてランドスケープについて知ることが出来るような仕様になっています。でももちろん大人の皆さんも楽しめますよ✨

美術館を囲む美しい森と室内に、これまでやって来たことと新しい試みを詰め込んでます。
展示が完成して、自分が見て来たもの、出会った人、触った素材、感じたことが作品ひとつひとつの中に確実に息づいていると思いました。
歴史を逆再生しているような、見るに耐えない現実をスマホ越しに眺めるなか
「生は開展の努力である」
という和辻哲郎の言葉を何度も心に反芻しながら制作してきました。
美しいものを生み出す努力は破滅への抵抗だと信じてこれからも制作続けたいです。

It may be far from both east and west Japan, but I would truly love for you to come see the show (on view until June 14).
Set within the beautiful forest surrounding the museum and throughout its interior spaces, this show brings together both what I have been working on so far and new experiments.
Now that the installation is complete, I feel that everything I have seen, the people I have met, the materials I have touched, and what I have felt are all vividly alive within each work.
As if rewinding history, while witnessing an unbearable reality through the screen of a smartphone,
I have continued creating while repeatedly reflecting on the words of Tetsurō Watsuji:
“Life is an effort of unfolding.”
Believing that the effort to create something beautiful is a resistance against destruction, I hope to continue making work from here on.
