約2週間かけて進めていたアトリエの自主改装が、ようやく終わりました。
今回の目的は、流木の保管場所と制作スペースを分けること。
制作中は木屑が舞うため、掃除のしやすさを優先し、必要最低限のものだけを制作スペースへ残しました。
アンティークの扉や古材の引き出し、昔の店舗で使っていたガラス扉や工事資材など、手元に残っていたものを活かしながら改装。
何を残し、何を削るのか。
自分の空間づくりは、作品づくりと少し似ている気がします。
これでようやく制作環境が整い、気持ち良く流木彫刻に集中できます。

【Studio Renovation Complete】
After about two weeks of renovation work, my studio is finally complete.
The main goal was to separate the driftwood storage area from the workspace.
Since carving produces a large amount of wood dust, I prioritized ease of cleaning and kept only the essentials within reach.
For this renovation, I used materials I already had on hand, including antique doors, reclaimed wood drawers, a glass door from my former furniture store, and leftover construction materials.
What to keep, and what to remove.
In some ways, creating a workspace feels similar to creating a sculpture.
At last, the studio is ready.
Now I can return my full attention to driftwood sculpture.

漂流木並非單純的雕塑材料。
它自山林進入河川，由河川流向海洋，在風、浪、陽光、乾燥與侵蝕的作用下，歷經漫長歲月。其表面所留下的裂痕、磨耗、節理、彎曲與缺損，皆是在自然環境中逐漸形成的造形結果，也是自然自身所完成的一種雕塑生成。
日內地讓的創作，始於對漂流木中潛藏之動物性存在的感知。
其根本來自日本美學中的「見立て（Mitate）」觀念。所謂見立て，是一種重新觀看事物的方式，在既有形象之中發現另一種存在與意義。這種感知方式亦可見於茶道、庭園以及枯山水之中，透過有限的物質與形態，引發觀看者無限的想像。
另一方面，使這種認知得以成形的重要態度，則是「Reduction（引き算）」。
在本創作中，「見立て（Mitate）」作為一種認知行為，以及盡可能降低造形介入的態度，共同構成作品的核心方法論。本文將兩者之間的關係稱為「Mitate Reduction」。
在此，重要的並非重新塑造形體，而是思考應當保留多少既存的造形。
雕刻性的介入被控制在最低限度，只在眼睛、口部等足以形成生命感的關鍵部位進行處理。
這種「不過度雕刻」的選擇，並非單純的技法限制。
漂流木表面保留著風化與侵蝕所形成的獨特質地。這些紋理在作品中不只是材料的表面特徵，更成為觀看者感知中可被閱讀為動物皮膚或毛髮的視覺訊息。
隨著雕刻的增加，這些表面也將逐漸消失，而材料所承載的時間痕跡亦會隨之流失。
因此，相較於賦予材料新的形體，我更重視如何最大程度地保留漂流木原有的表情。
這同時也是一種保存時間痕跡與材料記憶的態度。透過保留未完成性與留白，作品得以為觀看者的想像與詮釋留下介入的空間。
日內地讓的作品，並非將漂流木轉化為動物的雕塑。
相反地，它是一種發現自然造形中潛藏存在，並透過最小限度介入將其顯現出來的實踐。
在此過程中，創作者並非形體的創造者，而是透過選擇與介入，使材料內在可能性得以顯現的人。
自然留下的痕跡、創作者的見立，以及觀看者的想像。
作品正是在三者的關係之中成立，並非作為一件固定不變的雕塑存在，而是不斷被重新詮釋與理解的存在。
所謂「Mitate Reduction」，正是自然所刻畫的時間痕跡，與人為最小限度介入相遇之處所形成的表現方式。
在那裡，材料、創作者與觀看者之間的關係，共同開啟了一種多層次存在的詮釋可能。

普段はアトリエで木屑にまみれている私ですが、最終日は銀座の華やかな空間に身を置いていました。
展示期間中は多くの方に作品をご覧いただき、最終日は直接作品についてお話しする機会もあり、とても楽しい時間でした。
このたびは展示を開催してくださったベル・フルール様、ご来場くださった皆様、本当にありがとうございました。
展示会場ベル・フルールの化粧室にあったLEDミラー。
鏡の中の自分の目には、光のリングが映り込み、普段とは少し違う世界にいるような気がしました。
これから3時間かけて浜松へ戻ります。

流木彫刻を始めた頃の2年半前。
大工や家具製作の作業場として使っていた場所を、
流木彫刻のアトリエへと改装。
当時はスッキリとしたアトリエでしたが、今では至るところに流木が並び、木屑も積もり、制作環境としては少し整理が必要な段階に。
銀座での展示中の今、制作の手を止められるタイミングを見計らって、流木のストックスペースと、制作スペースを分けるための改装工事に着手。
今回は、間仕切り壁と流木の収納棚を制作していきます。
久しぶりの大工仕事。
普段の制作は脳ばかり使っていますが、
今回は段取りと全身運動。
彫刻とは違う楽しさがあります。
完成したら、またご紹介します。

「なぜ、ここまで彫ったのか」
“Why I Had to Go This Far”

No.93「白い牙」
原木から最初に見えたのは、大きく口を開いた獣の姿。
その口の開き方は、ただ吠えているのではなく、強い感情が噴き出しているように見えた。
そこから、この口を最も活かせる動物として白狼を選んだ。
牙を剥き、感情を露わにする姿。
その表情を形にするためには、これまで以上に深く踏み込む必要があった。
歯茎が見えるほど吊り上がった口元。
その筋肉が生み出す皺。
喉の奥まで覗き込めるほど大きく開いた口。
そして、触れれば傷つきそうな鋭い牙。
頭部だけでは収まらず、
喉元や首の後ろには別の流木を組み、
頬毛の立体感や口の形を作るため、さらに流木を加えながら形を探った。
今回は、流木の質感を活かすというよりも、
流木から見えたシルエットの中にある感情を掘り起こす制作だった。
ほんのわずかな違いで表情は変わってしまう。
そのため今回は、自分でも驚くほど彫刻で介入している。
単なる美しさではなく、
強さや激しさまで流木の中から引き出したかった。
そんな作品になったと思う。

No.93 “White Fang”
What first emerged from the driftwood was the image of a beast with its mouth wide open.
It did not look like a howl.
It felt as though powerful emotions were bursting out from within.
From that moment, I chose a white wolf as the animal that could best embody this form.
Fangs bared.
Emotion laid bare.
To bring that expression into existence, I had to go further than ever before.
The raised lips exposing the gums.
The wrinkles created by the tension of the muscles.
A mouth opened so wide that the depth of the throat could be felt.
And fangs sharp enough to draw blood.
The sculpture extended beyond the head itself.
Additional driftwood was joined to form the throat and the back of the neck.
More pieces were added to create the volume of the cheek fur.
This was not a work focused on preserving the texture of the driftwood.
Instead, it became an attempt to uncover the emotions hidden within the silhouette I first saw in the wood.
The slightest change can alter an expression completely.
Because of that, I intervened with carving more than in perhaps any work before.
I wanted to draw out not only beauty,
but also strength, ferocity, and raw emotion from within the driftwood.
I believe this work carries all of them.

今回は、狼の威嚇するような口への見立て。
見立ては、毎回答え合わせのない作業です。
本当に狼になるのか。
途中で別の動物になるのか。
完成するまで油断できません。
今回は、より感情的な表情、極端な皮膚の動きに踏み込みながら彫刻しています。
これは流木から出された彫刻課題。
この機を逃さず、もう一段深い表現へ。

【Work in Progress】
I saw in this driftwood the open jaws of a snarling wolf.
Interpreting driftwood is always a process without a definitive answer.
Will it truly become a wolf?
Or will it transform into a different creature along the way?
There is no certainty until the work is finished.
This time, I am exploring more emotional expressions and more exaggerated tensions and folds in the skin.
This is the challenge the driftwood has given me.
Without letting this opportunity pass, I will push toward a deeper level of expression.
