Due to current circumstances I will not be able to attend this year but I highly encourage you if you are into rare vintage clothing to pop into this show. Inspiration is where I launched my brand in 2010 in the Santa Monica Airport. I had a booth almost every single year since except in covid. Well I can't always have a booth and I can't always attend being Canadian I have attended all of the Japanese shows and I can assure you the rarest of the rarest of the rarest in vintage clothing is always there. If you were looking for something that you couldn't find anywhere else this is where you would go. Also many of the attendees are some of the OG ogs of vintage clothing. I'm talking guys I've known since 1992 basically the Japanese and American guys that invented the vintage clothing business before the internet. A real cast of characters and the kind of people that internet youngbloods talk about as influencers I could list off 40 names and you would find Instagram videos by new Bloods all over IG talking about their influence on the fashion industry. This includes new fashion brands that lived off the purchase of vintage clothing for design to Japanese brands that recreated designs and American dealers that supplied them and of course the odd Canadian wink! I have been doing vintage back and forth for so long that some of the notables that founded the very business of fashion and vintage have passed on. Early ebayers like Mike manpearl. The books that first documented rare vintage clothing collections like Larry Heller were published by the founder of this show Rin Tanaka. It was his book motorcycle jackets A Century of design and which I saw many of the jackets that I had sold which inspired me to start collecting more and build my own leather jacket brand. In fact in 2009 Rin was briefly producing silver spots and I was going to purchase them for my jackets. I even purchased some of his leather jacket collection that he posted in the book. His OG number one that helps put on inspiration was my dear old friend and in our youth he was my first vintage customer in the '90s running the Japanese company Daytona International...
Favorite time of the month, clutch magazine, men's file magazine, and a whole lot of leather pictures. Including yours truly and my friend Jon
Made this cool Canuck with our new wool tiger lining, it's good for a year-round where but really it's fall spring and winter!
Successfully in my opinion made and restored these cool 80-year-old side buckles I like the way they turned out cool blue steel patina or just plain age Steel with a tung oil preservation finish... available by request
So I have been putting in a lot of time thinking about the Perfection of imperfection. This conversation in my mind started when I was in Japan hanging about with Kento from Real McCoys. He was telling me about his team and how he has one team for sewing laser like precision and he has another team that emulates small shop 1930s style sewing that has a little bit of warble and imperfection. I've had many conversations with my own team and we always try to find a balance of handmade looking rather than production. This is literally where I'm at at this point where I am concerned that some of the work is too clean. I would prefer and do prefer a more organic look. Crazy in the age of AI and fast fashion that one of the pillars of what we're trying to do is make sure it is understood that each garment is hand made. It took me years to get the team off the idea of perfection.
Happy New Year... from us over here at Himel Bros. And by us I mean you. Most of the photos you see are our customers, our tribe. I am lucky between my team and all of you I get to have another year of making jackets. So thank you, and if you want to share and post the beautiful coats that you wear... I will share and post them for 2026. We're all going to be insta famous together!
So the next version of tweaked finishing sample horsehide in our Dominion universe has come in just before the holidays. I will be using these two colors to make the next ready to wear designs. I guess my big question is given the nature of the hides which are quite weighty at 1.4 mm... what two jackets do you think I should offer for a presale? Leave some ideas in the comments and maybe I'll run a poll from whatever shows up the most... we can run a pole and I can get a feel for what people would be interested a pre-order for. I mean I have some ideas and I have like 8,000 pictures of jackets on my Instagram. Also have five designs I've been working on for the last 6 years but I'm not prepared to do a new one yet. That takes a bit of time tweaking the pattern and the grading and making sure a new design Works before you go commit to making it. Leave a comment with an idea plus hey it helps! Happy holidays!!
My gorgeous lovely tribe of jacket lovers. It has been an amazing year we have had all the trials and all the tribulations we have made new friends we have lost a few old ones. I have managed to launch my first ready to wear limited release and I am getting new leather on Monday that I will share here, and it has been a bunker success! We only have one size 46 jacket left in the United States. I can't thank all of you enough, my team Robert, May, Reilly, Arianne, all my friends who helped me with photography and other work
Jesse.. Gary... Hana... Louis.. Grant.. Opal
All of you I want you guys to have the best holiday season. Look forward to more collaborations with jacket lovers, clothing brands I love, stores I love, store owners I love, thank you for everybody keeping this magic going.

thanks for the vid
Did you want to get a Himel jacket in time for Christmas? I have this cool app called make an offer! If you make a reasonable offer you got a chance, if you make a dumb offer well I mean it's annoying but I suppose the world is full of that LOL. We have a size 36 Avro in goat skin, we have a size 40 brand new Kensington Cafe Racer in Black shinki oil finish... and we have another Avro in Black shinki pigment size 38. I could go on about the details but basically all three were made for customers and were remade based on teeny tiny errors in the order sheet like the wrong liner. Occasionally it happens... they are as in condition there's nothing wrong with any of them... and we will of course verify your size before we ship them out. And if you're unhappy within 7 days you can return it and consider it a down payment on a bespoke jacket. It's a pretty good deal and it gets you something without delay if you were sitting on the fence. It's rare I have extra jackets so line up make your offers of course I'll have something in the email... they are in the ready to wear section on the website. If you haven't been to my website this is a good chance to go peruse the ready to wear section.
