As someone parenting a non conversational, autistic girl- I cannot tell you how much ācanātā flooded my life, especially in the early years. She canāt do this because of this, or wonāt be able to do that because of xyz- and at some point as parents, I really believe indi has made the biggest strides in her life because the support system around her believes she CAN.
I donāt say this to be āblack and whiteā about the situation. Every disability/neurodivergent parent knows there are some things their kid simply cannot do, myself included! All I want to encourage is stepping out of your comfort zone from time to time. Expose them to hard things. They can learn so much if given the opportunity, and the path there may not look any way you expected, but letting them take the lead in their own way is the best part.
Indi is still going strong at her personal training sessions with and making huge strides! She genuinely surprises us every time I see a new video or new machine she is getting aquatinted with. If there is one thing I would love to see more of in covered services for the disability community- it would be fitness based programs. Indi is so proud of herself, and genuinely enjoys the physical input so much! Thank you Mallory and the rest of the team for being such a strong pillar in Indis life ā¤ļø
