This mama is going on her first ALONE vacation since becoming a mom nearly 5 years ago 🥹 I have NEVER slept away from my youngest (2.5) and only spent two nights away from my first when she was 18 months old. Been on top of things for years, owning the kids related mental load, and I’m grateful my husband pushed me to go on this trip.
When women find out I’m married to a Syrian they often worry about me doing everything at home and having little freedom, thankfully that’s the opposite of my experience 🥰 grateful for a partner that not only wanted a wife and kids, but also wanted to be a husband and father. Thanks 🐝💕
Saying goodbye to my girls last night was emotional but I know they are in the best hands, and I know how much I do for my family and how much I deserve to treat myself every now and then too.

When I moved to Germany, I had no friends, and I was a mom. I felt so lonely, so I created a WhatsApp group and started hosting free playdates. I am so grateful for my community 🩷
But last year, I realized something needed to be done for Ramadan, as it call for community, togetherness, tolerance and peace. I also wanted my daughters to grow up with beautiful childhood memories of Ramadan which can be very difficult to get when living in a non Muslim country. So I reached out to who hosted the most amazing Iftar with Bosnian food her mom prepared for all of us. As a revert, this was one of the most special evenings of my entire life.
So we did it again this year, this time with an international potluck, and I got teary eyed all over again. I can’t even put my gratitude into words, so I’ll just say thank you so much for trusting me, for always joining my events, this community means so much to me, nothing would be possible without you all so thank you 💚

I created the largest FREE mom club in Düsseldorf. Over 1,000 moms have joined more than 300 events: Kindercafe and playgrounds playdates, park walks, family barbecues, Ramadan Iftars, Christmas brunches, kid-free dinners and so much more in the past 4 years. All for free. I’ve never charged a cent for organizing (except for one picnic and honestly, it didn’t feel like me or my values).
I’ve been encouraged so many times to monetize this community, but fighting maternal isolation should never be a luxury. You shouldn’t feel “privileged” to connect with other moms. These connections can literally save lives. So I’ll keep doing this for free, with nothing but my heart—and the absolute conviction that these moms have my back.
As an expat, I often wonder if Düsseldorf is my forever home or if I’ll explore another corner of the world… but this community, these moms, make Düsseldorf feel like home. This club is my third baby.
To the moms who join—thank you. You always thank me for organizing, but I want to thank you:
Thank you for showing up.
Thank you for taking care of yourselves.
Thank you for showing your kids that mama deserves quality time, too.
