The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that family courts cannot convert a woman’s request for divorce into khula on their own — a move that can unfairly strip her of her right to dower.

In a key judgment, the apex court set aside earlier rulings that dissolved a marriage through khula and instead granted divorce on valid legal grounds after the husband entered a second marriage without fulfilling legal requirements. The Court also ordered the payment of the wife’s full unpaid dower amounting to Rs1.2 million.

The bench emphasized that khula cannot be assumed simply because a wife expresses unwillingness to continue the marriage. If legal grounds exist under the Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act, courts must decide the case accordingly — not deprive women of their financial rights through procedural shortcuts.

A significant ruling reinforcing that a woman’s consent, legal grounds, and financial protections must remain central in family law decisions.

Surah Al-Waqiah does not offer reassurance. It offers clarity.

Revealed in Makkah at a time when resurrection was openly denied, the surah dismantles one of humanity’s most comfortable illusions: that status, wealth, or social standing will hold any value when the inevitable arrives. It declares the Day of Judgment not as a distant possibility, but as a certainty — unavoidable and uncompromising.

What makes Surah Al-Waqiah unsettling is its refusal to blur lines. Humanity is not addressed as a single, equal mass. It is divided. Deeds matter. Belief matters. Outcomes differ. The surah disrupts the modern tendency to soften faith into symbolism, reminding us that accountability is not abstract — it is personal.

The text repeatedly draws attention to creation itself: the seed, the soil, the water, the fire. Ordinary elements, presented as evidence of divine power. If life can emerge from nothing, the surah asks, why is resurrection treated as implausible?

Surah Al-Waqiah is not meant to comfort the ego. It aims to awaken the conscience. It strips away distractions and forces a reckoning with what truly endures. In doing so, it challenges a culture that prefers spiritual reassurance over moral responsibility.

This is not a surah to read passively. It confronts. It divides. And in its certainty, it leaves no room for denial.

Deer print is stepping out of the wild and straight into 2026’s fashion vocabulary.
Softer than leopard, subtler than cheetah, this speckled motif brings a refined edge to animal prints, pairing effortlessly with clean tailoring, plush textures, and muted neutrals. From faux-fur layers and fluid blouses to accessories that quietly command attention, deer print feels less about drama and more about detail.
