This video is longer, and I won’t add much more here.
The face is a fascinating part of the body, and we are only beginning to understand how much influence it has. Through the face, through relaxation, and through intentional touch, we can affect far more than appearance alone.
That is the point of this video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and listen. 🤍🤍🤍✨

In yesterday’s post I was mentioning how important it is to understand exactly what layer of the face/head you are working on
And what are you achieving in this particular moment.
In this very beautiful, connective and pleasurable move you are actually working with the Periosteum!!!
What benefit our work with Periosteum
Brings to our beautiful clients…?

The periosteum separates the bone from surrounding structures. It contains small blood vessels that provide nourishment to the outer cortex of bones.

Innocent scalp massage done correctly,
With the Strong hand in this case
IN FACT ITS THE ONLY TIME WR USE STRONG HAND DURING THE FACIAL..

That innocent scalp massage stimulates
The periosteum, bringing blood flow towards it,blood 🩸 supplies our tissue with nutrients and oxygen, tissues with good supply of nutrients and oxygen produce more fibroblast
Fibroblasts are cells that are present in bone and other soft and hard tissue and can play a role in bone structure and function:
Structure
Fibroblasts produce collagen and other proteins that make up the extracellular matrix (ECM), a network of fibers that supports tissues in the body. In bone, the ECM includes cartilage, tendons, and bone.
Now let’s address aging of the face
What happens first in aging process that starts the chain of visible aging signs
Bone shrinks first …
And all the soft tissue hanging on it like
Oversized sheets on small mattress…
So what we need to do and what we can do as manual therapists,to preserve bone width on our clients scalp?
We must massage periosteum…

And it is only one beneficial factor of scalp massage, there are definitely more …
So now when we do just innocent scalp massage we can picture in our mind
What a powerful and beneficial service we are doing right now to our clients ❤️
Understanding all the details and functions of every move makes our job so much more exciting ❤️❤️❤️

The lymphatic system has no heart of its own.
It relies on external pressure and breathing mechanics to move fluid.

When gentle pressure is applied over the sternum during inhalation, resistance is created.
As the client exhales and that pressure is released, the sudden shift in pressure acts like a pump.

This is the pump effect:
• Light resistance during inhale
• Gentle forward flow during exhale

This cycle helps move lymph from superficial facial channels into deeper collectors and ultimately back into circulation.

Why this matters in facial work

Without activating this pump, lymph in the face can stagnate — leading to puffiness, dull skin, and slower recovery.

By priming the lymphatic system at the sternum:
• The face and neck have a clear drainage pathway
• Swelling reduces more efficiently
• Contours appear sharper and skin looks brighter

Important:
If, during lymphatic initiation, you are swinging between fingers and the heels of the hands, this is a mistake.
It creates no pump effect and produces no visible change in the face.

Buccal massage must always be performed with a light, educated hand.
Excessive pressure creates inflammation and many clients already arrive with underlying inflammation. Inflammation can lead to fibrosis (the formation of rigid, thickened tissue), and fibrosis can contribute to ptosis (the downward displacement or sagging of soft tissues). This is a trajectory we must always avoid.

Buccal massage should never be performed first. It must follow proper lymphatic drainage and superficial muscle work, and it should never be done on a cold face or cold muscles, as this increases the risk of irritation and inflammation. The temporomandibular joint is a highly sensitive area, and our goal is support, not harm.

When performed correctly, buccal massage is one of the most effective modalities for releasing stagnation, improving circulation and oxygenation, supporting lymphatic flow, and creating true, long-term facial rejuvenation.

Buccal massage can be an excellent tool for facial rejuvenation when it is performed with precision, anatomical knowledge, and a light, respectful hand. Working intraorally allows access to deep facial muscles that are difficult to reach externally, helping to release chronic tension, improve circulation, and restore natural movement to the mid and lower face. When done correctly, this technique supports healthy muscle tone, enhances lymphatic flow, and contributes to a more balanced, lifted appearance without forcing or overstimulating the tissues.

However, buccal massage must never be aggressive. Excessive pressure can provoke inflammation, and repeated inflammation may lead to fibrotic changes in the tissue. Fibrosis reduces elasticity and adaptability of the skin and underlying structures, which over time can contribute to heaviness and downward pull rather than lift. Facial rejuvenation is not about force it is about working in harmony with the skin, muscles, fascia, and nervous system. A light, educated touch supports regeneration and longevity, while an overly strong hand can undermine the very results one is trying to achieve.

As you can see in the video, the depth at which you work with the tissues truly matters. Different areas of the face and different concerns determine how deep the work should be. For lymphatic drainage, we use an extremely light touch. When working with bone, the depth is much deeper. Muscle work requires a medium depth, always adjusted to the specific area of the face. This precision is what creates visible change. As shown in the before-and-after images, even on very young and naturally beautiful faces, correct depth still produces a noticeable difference. Our ultimate goal is always results, and mastering the correct depth allows you to achieve visible outcomes even in the most challenging faces challenging not because they are problematic, but because there is very little to correct. Creating visible results in such faces is true mastery.

I stopped asking my students for reviews a long time ago — it always felt a bit like a sugar substitute: sweet, but not natural.
That’s why this was such a beautiful surprise — a true gift from a student that touched my heart deeply.
Katie I am so grateful, so proud, and truly humbled. This review means the world to me. What an incredible gift.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate it more than words can say.

Why am I so particular about sequencing in facials?
Because it’s the key to a successful lift.

Think of it like caring for a garment—you wash it first, then iron it. If you iron before washing, the garment becomes unwearable.

The same principle applies to the face. Facial movements must follow a precise order, preparing tissues for the next step. Nothing should be random or without purpose.

The first part of the facial focuses on preparing the surrounding tissues, particularly the epicranial aponeurosis. Once those tissues have space for blood flow, we can move on to lifting the face, knowing it’s ready for the work.

As we age, the epicranial aponeurosis, like other connective tissues in the body, undergoes changes. These changes can include:
1. Loss of Elasticity: The collagen fibers in the epicranial aponeurosis can become less elastic over time, which reduces the flexibility of the scalp and its ability to support the muscles of facial expression.
2. Thinning of Tissue: The aponeurosis may become thinner as part of the natural aging process, which can contribute to sagging in the surrounding areas, including the forehead and upper face.
3. Reduced Blood Flow: Aging can also cause reduced blood circulation in the scalp area, which may affect the overall health and appearance of the skin and muscles connected to the epicranial aponeurosis.
4. Weaker Muscle Support: As the tissue weakens, the frontalis and occipitalis muscles may lose some of their tone, contributing to forehead wrinkles, drooping eyebrows, and less support for the upper facial structure.
