Here are some things I have learned from my patients
✅ask for a cash price
✅ask your pharmacist if they have a coupon
✅ask for a generic or an alternative
✅check the walmart/target/Walgreens $4 prescription list
✅ ask your doctor’s office for samples
✅ I’m all for supporting a local pharmacy… but if the cost of meds are ⬆️, consider checking an online pharmacy like GoodRx

So what can we do about it?
- Understand your risks of heart issues- talk to your family and learn about their health
- Go for regular primary care check ups (he hadn’t been to his PCP in ~5 years)
- Get appropriate blood work checked (cholesterol, kidney function, blood count, advanced lipid panels, check for diabetes)
- AVOID smoking (especially if you have a strong family history of heart disease
- Stay active
- Never ignore chest pain.
- support research - we need to learn more about the genes that contribute to early heart disease
