Winter is here! The weather has dropped so much and itโs so cold! All I want is warm and comforting food. Throwback to when my partner and I went to for a quick lunch and their soup noodles and soup is just perfect for this weather. Weโve eaten here a few times and we always enjoy the food. Nice little Korean restaurant in New Malden on the high street.

in Angel specialises in these pretty purple rice rolls. They use premium organic non-gmo black rice, pearl rice and glutinous rice. Steam cooked in a traditional authentic wooden rice barrel. Theyโve been on my list for so long and I finally ticked them off my list! Aside from purple rice rolls, they also have a few other snack items. Itโs a small cosy place with small amount of seating. Great place for casual lunch or a snack.

Canโt believe itโs the last day of 2025! This year has gone by so quick. Itโs been a very busy year at work for both my partner and I. Feel like everyday we say we are tired. We spent the last day with a big long walk at Richmond park to tire out as we knew fireworks would go a bit crazy tonight. Then we headed to for coffee and cake. We got the Spanish latte and black sesame latte which were both really good. We shared the cheese & rice brownie which Iโve had before and absolutely love. Itโs got a chewy texture and not too sweet. Stopped by on the way to lunch and grabbed the ube toast to share, a little snack before a meal, haha. I asked them to cut it again so we can all have a piece. It actually looks so cute when itโs so small. The bread was soft with sweet gooey ube jam and a thick slab of butter that reminded me of a pineapple bun. It was a lovely little sweet treat. So good! A bit pricey at ยฃ5.80, but Iโd get it again.

in Brick Lane serves delicious and comforting rice noodles. The best part is, you get to customise what you want in your bowl. Grab a menu and tick โ๏ธ your soup base, spice levels, toppings, sides and a drink!
I went for the sour and spicy soup base which was delicious. I got the medium spice but next time I might go for the hot. I went for pig stomach and tofu puffs as my topping. The tofu puffs soaked up all the soup, definitely would recommend adding. We got a side of spicy century eggs to share. Itโs my first time trying it like this and I loved it. The cold Yuan Yeung was really nice. It was strong and smooth. More places need to have Yuan Yeungs.
I really enjoyed my noodles and definitely would come back again. Shame itโs a bit far for me but Iโm willing to travel to Brick Lane again. Staff were really nice too. Oh! They are also doggy friendly.

Iโve been holding it in so badly not to say anything. I went on #extraslice show as a home baker audience! I was on Series 6 Episode 7 Custard week (aired on 28th Oct) if anyone wants to watch it on catch up. ๐ I brought in a Full Scottish Breakfast bake made from cookies, cake and custard tart. walked past it and did stare at it for a while, then laughed, then walked off. Not sure if that means he liked it or not haha! We got to talk to for a bit for the show and heโs so funny. Most of it got cut out though. The bf made a comment about the sausage cooking looking like poop and Tom Allen told him off and took a bite out of my cookie! Tom Allen was so nice, after we all finish shooting the home bakers parts, he went round to see if everyone is okay after his roasting and say sorry. So cute!
The whole day experience was incredible. Itโs my first time on a TV set and it was so cool seeing how everyone worked. Also very cool seeing something I baked on the tv screen. I had so much fun! I was on tv for one minute plus also the bits where I was in the background. ๐ซข

Turning anime food to real life continues! This time I tried recreating the chocolate cake from Kikiโs delivery service! I love Studio Ghibli and Kikiโs delivery service is one of my favourites! Have you watched it?
Letโs talk about the positive first. I do think this is definitely a pass! Maybe 90% similar? Kiki and letters is slightly off angle. Taste-wise, it was DELICIOUS!!! Super chocolatey and the cake was soooo soft!!!! has the best chocolate cake! I donโt have a standing mixer so I didnโt follow her buttercream recipe. I used chocolate buttercream and mirror glaze recipe and Iโm definitely using them again! Taste amazing!
Onto the negative stuff. The decorations part was really difficult. I struggled with my first ever mirror glaze. I didnโt read the instructions properly so it was too cool to pour and ended up uneven and air bubbles. Tasted great but it didnโt have that beautiful smooth glossy look. I tried to temper white chocolate to create the artwork but failed. If anyone have any tips on tempering white chocolate, please advise. I watched lots of YouTube videos and read lots of recipes. But not sure what I went wrong. I even had a thermometer. So I did the artwork in royal icing instead which was a lot easier to handle. But there was still some uneven parts and also cracks! I did cheat and photoshop the cracks away cause I spent four days on this and I just wanted it to look decent. Yes four days, cause Iโm a beginner and split the stages over four days. Plus one of the days I was too angry with the failed chocolate tempering, I couldnโt look at the cake that day.
