作家としての活動歴も長くなってきましたが、実は日本国内におけるギャラリーでの展示経験は最近こそ少し増えましたが、歴の割にはそれほど多くなく、これまでSNSやオンライン、garageを軸にショップでの展示を中心に活動してきました。
毎年の展示スケジュールも大体同じようなサイクルで定まりつつある中、少しだけ今のルーティンを壊したいと考え、現在、日本での活動の幅を色々と模索しているところです。
そんな中、今回ご縁があって開催できた さんでの個展。
終了と同時に、自分の中で何かが「ゴロッ」と動く音が聞こえた気がします。ここからまた新しい何かが始まる、そんな可能性を感じた展示となりました。

今後の予定ですが、近日中に東京でのホテル展示があり、10月には福岡のAFAFへの出展、同じく１０月は地元、garage名古屋での個展も控えております。
また、新しいフィギュアも発売に向けてメーカーと進んでます。
次の展示まで少し期間が空くため、6月、7月は「未完成画企画」をはじめ、オンラインでの絵画販売も行おうと考えております。こちらも準備ができ次第お知らせいたします。
いつの間にかびっくりするくらい歳を取りました。
周りは重役などに落ち着いて下を育ててる世代です。
しかし、僕はまだまだ実現したいことだらけで、これまた困ってます。
楽しくやれてることが救いです。

でも本物の命の代わりとして鯛の姿を借りたものなら、そこに優しさを感じたりする。
その一方で魚の死体をポップな形に記号化し、それを当たり前のように頭からかぶりつき、中から「やわらかいもの」がトロッとでてくるプロセスには冷静になってしまう時もある。
そんな人の「けものさ」と「理性」が共存しつつ、そんな事を誰も掘り返すことはないまま「タイヤキ」という記号になった、誰もが愛してやまないウソ鯛。
こんな事書いてたら食べたくなってきた。

今回の個展でもパンダは多めです。
それには理由があって、メッセージを乗せやすいデザインの動物だから。
カタチはシンプル且つ色は白と黒。そこに、海老の赤が入るだけで海老が海老だとすぐ伝わる。
パンダのデザインに余分な情報がないから、そこに加えた物が瞬時にさし色になって絵の世界へと導きやすくなり、メッセージ、物語が太くなります。
そう言う意味では実物のパンダから情報を削って、もっとそれが実現しやすいようデフォルメとブラッシュアップさせてきた自分の描くパンダは大好きです。
実際のパンダは普通です笑

寿司になるとアイコン化して、それが命だったこと忘れてしまう。忘れないように感謝したい。

「愛しけもの」個展期間の丁度真ん中。
流れゆく展示時間の「断面」はどんなかなと、この作品見ながら想いを馳せてます。

今回の展示で実は一番踏み込んだ作品かもしれません。
「けもの」「本能」をテーマにする以上、このことを避ける方が不自然なのでしれっと紛れさせてます。
小学生男子が理由も分からぬままその現象と対峙する。
「またこれか」と慣れっこになりつつも、これは自分だけに起こっている現象だと思い込む。
そして、ゆっくり情報は舞い込み、時間をかけたフェードインのように自分が「けもの」であること理解する。
今はスマホで唐突に理解しちゃうけど。

毎年この時期の東京・丸ビルでの展示は、展示スペースの終了により今年からなくなりました。
そのタイミングで さんととご縁があり開催するのが、この「愛しけもの」です。
これまで僕は、動物のカタチを借りて人間の心情を描いてきました。
今回は動物たちのカタチだけでなく、心情、とくに“本能”という部分にも目を向けています。
その本能を扱う以上、どうしても今までより表現が踏み込みがちになります。
そこで、踏み込みすぎかもしれないと表現にブレーキをかける自分がいました。
本能をテーマにしながら、自分が理性でもって作家としての“見え方”を気にしたのです。
それには、はっ！とさせられたけど、でもこの見え方を気にすること、それは
「群れから外されたくない、嫌われたくない、生き残りたい」という本能のひとつなのかもと思ったり。
もしかして理性とは、本能の一部であって、理性とはハイスペック本能なのかもしれません。
そんなことを思いながら、「人間」と「けもの」の境界線を筆先で探りました。
大小合わせ40点ほどの展示になります。
人間の中に残り続ける“けもの”の気配を、会場で感じていただけたら幸いです。
