Kind coercion thrives where we’ve been taught that being “easy” equals being safe.

Within all my birth work I’m reminded all the time these lessons are not just for birth but for all of us always and particularly women.

But yes, Especially in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — when power dynamics are real — gentleness alone is not enough.
We deserve care that is attuned, informed, and collaborative.

This isn’t about distrusting providers.
It’s about remembering that you are the expert on your own lived experience.
✨ Feeling so aligned in my role as a doula lately ✨

It’s wild how life has a way of quietly preparing us for the work we’re meant to do. Looking back, I can see the threads weaving together: early studies in massage teaching me the language of touch, years of yoga guiding me to witness the body and mind, holding space for large groups showing me how to hold attention and presence… all of it, quietly pointing me here.

Even the little things — listening deeply to friends, supporting people through transitions, practicing patience, noticing energy shifts — were all lessons in what it means to be present, non-judgmental, and grounded.

Now, standing beside birthing people, guiding them through one of the most vulnerable, transformative moments of their lives, I feel like every step I’ve taken has been leading to this. Every experience, every study, every moment of showing up has been a rehearsal for this sacred work.

Being a doula isn’t just a role; it feels like coming home to everything I’ve ever learned about connection, presence, and trust. And it’s such a privilege to witness, support, and empower others in this way.

💛 To anyone reading this who feels like they’ve been “preparing without knowing it”: notice the threads. Everything in your life is shaping you for the people, moments, and purpose you’re meant to serve.

Why induction of labour can increase the likelihood of caesarean birth

When an induction of labour is offered, it’s important to understand the reason. Common explanations include concerns about a “big baby,” worries about maternal or fetal wellbeing, or reaching a certain gestational age and being labelled “late.”

Often, these reasons are not personal to you as an individual. They are frequently based on general guidelines, population-level risk, or hospital policy rather than your unique body, pregnancy, baby, or circumstances. In many cases, induction is presented as more necessary or urgent than it truly is.

Labour normally begins when the body, hormones, cervix, and baby are ready. When labour is started artificially before this readiness, the body may respond with stress rather than efficient labour.

Once induction begins, birth often moves into a system governed by timing parameters. If one method does not work within a set timeframe, the next step is introduced — and then the next. Each stage adds pressure, expectation, and fatigue, with little space for rest or natural rhythm.

As contractions are stimulated to intensify, pain often increases rapidly. With this comes a greater likelihood of pharmacological pain relief, which can restrict movement and reduce the ability to respond instinctively. Reduced movement and rising stress hormones can further interfere with labour physiology, slowing cervical dilation and making it harder for the baby to rotate and descend.

Over time, discomfort, exhaustion, and lack of progression can lead to concern for both mother and baby. In these circumstances, a caesarean may be recommended as the safest option, not because something was wrong at the start, but because the process itself became long, pressured, and distressing.

Induction can be necessary and lifesaving in some situations. However, it is not a neutral intervention. This is why it is vital to ask questions, understand the true reason for the recommendation, and weigh the risks and benefits as they apply to you personally, rather than assuming induction is automatically the safest choice.

Informed decisions are personal decisions.

Magical 2025 — Year of the Snake 🐍

A year of rebirth, wisdom, intuition, and deep renewal.
An invitation to slow down, turn inward, shed old skins, and release beliefs that no longer serve.

This year has been gently uplifting me — guiding me through motherhood and back home to myself 🤍
Creating space to listen more deeply, to trust my inner knowing, and to reconnect with my ideas, dreams, and soul whispers.

I feel myself diving deeper into the sacred world of birth, honoring cycles, transformation, and the quiet power of becoming.
Surrounded by beautiful friendships, supported by unseen forces, and carried by a flow that feels divinely aligned.

This is a season of remembering who I am, trusting my path, and moving with intention rather than force.
Rooted, intuitive, and open.
Being a birth partner isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about showing up, staying steady, and holding space through every wave.
These small actions can make a huge difference!
Holi-day. Holiday.
A day meant to rest, to reset, to find balance again.

Before it became about plans and busyness, a holy day was simply a pause — a time where nothing was needed and everything could soften.

My holiday isn’t about plans.
It’s about release — letting the daily stress seep away,
allowing the torpidity to fall by the wayside.

A moment to breathe, to feel the calm return,
to do nothing and simply be,
and most of all, to be with my loves.
I’m going to say something that might sound controversial, but it’s true for me:

I don’t like touch in yoga.

I don’t need my practice to be assisted, adjusted, pressed, or pushed.
I come to the mat to discover myself — not to be moved into someone else’s idea of where I “should” be.

Hands-on adjustments take me out of my own space and drop me into another person’s energy. And that’s not what I’m seeking in my practice.

What’s interesting is that for years I taught assisting. I’m actually very skilled at supportive touch and understanding movement. But the more I grow in my practice, the more I question whether it’s really needed — especially in a group setting.

Is yoga truly the space for physical manipulation?
Or is it a space for self-awareness, self-trust, and internal experience?

In a 1:1 session, where you deeply know your client and their intentions, touch can absolutely serve. But in a class?

It’s not for me.

I’d rather explore my body from the inside out — without being steered, corrected, or reshaped. My practice is my own, and that’s exactly how I want it to stay.
There is a unique kind of magic that happens when women gather.
Mothers’ circles and women’s circles have long been spaces of wisdom, support, and deep remembrance. They are places where stories are shared, tears are welcomed, and laughter becomes medicine.

In these circles, women hold one another through transitions, celebrate milestones, and pass down the kind of wisdom that can only come from lived experience.
They remind us that we are not meant to carry everything alone.

When women come together, we reconnect to our intuition, our strength, and our shared humanity. We rise—individually and collectively.

Here’s to the circles that heal, inspire, empower, and restore.
Here’s to the women who show up for each other with open hearts and open hands.

Skin-to-skin isn’t just sweet—it’s physiology.
Your baby’s entire nervous system is designed to regulate through your touch, your warmth, your heartbeat.
When we protect long, uninterrupted contact, we give their body (and ours) the chance to reset, calm, connect, and thrive.
Last 3 days of classes before a week reset;

Sunday 11:15 & 12:30
Monday 7:15am

Before I head off on my family holiday, my heart feels full. I truly adore what I do — really, really adore it. I feel lucky every day to share this practice, to learn from it, and to nurture women through pregnancy, birth, and those tender early days of motherhood. It’s such a joy and such an honour.

But I give and give and give… and now I need some me time.

So for a little while there’ll be
no schedules,
no structure,
no rushing,
no being tethered to my phone
just floating through the days.
Space to breathe, soften, and simply be.

Grateful for it all. Ready to rest.
