For MDW26, Hannes Peer, in collaboration with, reflects on the idea of the “new classic” not as nostalgia, but as the creation of objects that feel timeless from the outset, pieces rooted in the present yet imbued with an almost subconscious sense of familiarity.

BLAINE transforms extruded aluminium into a sculptural architectural gesture, reminiscent of Elsa Peretti’s jewels, at once precise and sensual, suspended between projected memory and a quiet futurism.
ELYNE explores radical lightness through tubular metal construction, balancing graphic clarity with softness, where subtle echoes of Marcel Breuer and Milo Baughman dissolve into an effortless contemporary silhouette.
SOFTCASE unfolds as a modular domestic landscape, a protective shell with enveloping softness, organic yet restrained, evolving fluidly through space and different ways of living.
LILLIAM introduces a more grounded and architectural presence, archetypal yet sensual, defined by a sculptural wooden trestle base and softened through generous curves and quiet elegance.
AURORE explores atmosphere and delicacy through restrained sophistication, where lightness, reflection, and material precision create an object that feels both contemporary and strangely familiar.
Across the collection, permanence replaces spectacle. Forms are reduced to clarity, with sensuality balanced by architectural rigor, creating pieces conceived not to dominate a space, but to quietly sediment within it over time.

🇬🇧 He was everywhere in Milan this year during the Fuorisalone, unveiling a collection for Sem (slide 4) and creating installations for Margraf (slides 2 & 3) and Officine Saffi Lab (slides 5 & 6).
But most importantly, was with us at the 2026 IDEAT Design Awards, where he was honoured as Best Designer of the year 💥
Comprising eight pieces in solid mahogany, rosewood and cherry, each is defined by an abstract, carved façade, shaped through references that move between Pierre Chapo's wooden volumes, Leroy Setziol's rhythmic carvings and Jean Touret's tactile surfaces.
Across the collection, a pedestal cabinet carries shifting patterns of gouged grids, concave circles and chevron motifs, while a dining table reveals diamond-shaped strata cut into its base, and wall-hanging panels strip the work back to sculptural art.
Presented at the Spotti Milano showroom on viale Piave, in a setting conceived with Claudio Spotti, the collection is staged to highlight the essential materiality of the carved forms.

La casa di marmo is not a house clad in marble. It is a house made of marble. A radical idea built without compromise, where stone becomes structure, atmosphere, and light. Walls, floors, and ceilings emerge from one continuous mineral presence. The architecture feels quarried rather than constructed.
Hidden beneath a historic villa in Milan’s Brera district, the experience begins with a quiet descent. Step by step, the city dissolves. A door opens into an entirely marble world. Monumental, almost unreal, yet inevitable.
Santafiora marble grounds the space in warm tones, while onyx, quartz, and agate glow from within. Zenithal light cuts through from above, transforming matter into atmosphere. Marble becomes image: veins, sediments, and colors form natural compositions, framed rather than designed.
A spatial sequence unfolds as a promenade architecturale, echoing Le Corbusier. A luminous corridor inspired by Luis Barragán translates color into stone. At the center, a patio gathers light, water, and mass into a single gesture, where a vertical cascade animates the stillness.
From the intimacy of the conversation pit to the carved clarity of the kitchen, every space reinforces a single idea: continuity. In the bedroom, soft textiles finally meet the severity of stone, introducing a quiet, human counterpoint.
La casa di marmo is monumental yet intimate, archaic yet forward looking. A total vision of architecture reduced to its essence. One material. One atmosphere. One idea.
A domestic monolith where utopia is not imagined, but built.

High above Milan, architect Hannes Peer transforms a 400 sqm duplex into a luminous continuum of architecture, light, and life. The home channels American modernism and a nautical sense of openness, deliberately steering clear of Alpine clichés—“Don’t you dare design me a stube,” Johannes teased at the first meeting.
From a mirrored okoumé threshold inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s spatial drama, the apartment unfolds toward sweeping skyline views and a rooftop garden. At its heart, the living room flows around a sculptural Carrara marble dining table, modernist rugs, Murano sconces, the sculptural glass floor lamp LINA from designed by Peer and icons like a Le Corbusier chaise and Noguchi lamps, creating a serene yet vibrant salon. The kitchen, sculpted in deep breccia pernice marble and warm amber-toned wood, continues this dialogue to the glass-wrapped veranda, where city and sky become part of everyday life.
A hand-welded helical staircase anchors the vertical journey, while restored herringbone parquet and a Ponti-style fireplace weave memory into the contemporary fabric. Bathed in shifting light from every angle, this is more than a renovation—it is an international, ever-evolving home that embodies Milan’s creative spirit.

‘ At the Milanese apartment on the new cover of, design history class is very much in session. Our professor? ELLE DECOR A-List architect. When Peer’s client, a lawyer with two young children, found a second-floor flat in a 1930s building, Peer knew he wanted to pay homage to the city’s long legacy as a capital of design: work by Gio Ponti, Gae Aulenti, and Gabriella Crespi, among other icons, informs the geometries and details in the living room and primary suite, along with the vivid color palette in the entry and dining room. This project is Peer’s love letter to Milan. ‘ Asad Syrkett
