装飾的で華やかな描線からは、暁斎ならではの圧倒的な生命力と筆致の力強さがひしひしと伝わってきます。

朱鷺色の菊の中心部は、線のゆらぎを出すために版を刷毛で叩いてから摺るという特殊な技術を使用し、白い菊には中心部を紫のぼかしで再現するなど、摺師の高度な技巧を駆使しました。
絵師の情熱と、職人の精緻な手仕事が見事に融合した珠玉の一枚。

We are proud to introduce a traditional woodblock print created by the famous artist Kawanabe Kyosai for Haibara.
Beautiful chrysanthemums bloom like fireworks against a deep blue night sky.
This powerful design is also one of the main visuals for the Haibara 220th Anniversary Traveling Exhibition.
These stunning colors are brought to life by master artisans using 14 layers of printing. They start with red outlines and carefully add colors from light to dark.
To print the pink flower on the top left, the artisan gently taps the woodblock with a brush to create soft, natural lines. For the white flower on the bottom right, a beautiful purple color fade is used in the center to create a 3D effect.

こちらは、榛原の木版摺美術画の版木を彫師が製作している様子です。
版木に使用しているのは、古くから木版画に用いられてきた「山桜」。
木目が細かく反りが少ないうえ、粘り気があり加工性に優れた素材です。
しかし、木目があるゆえに正確で美しい線を彫り出すには、刀を4つの方向から入れる必要があり、多くの手間と時間がかけられています。
手元を照らす電球の前に吊るされているのは、水の入ったフラスコです。
これは光の屈折の性質を利用し、手元に落ちる影を消すための昔ながらの知恵です。
榛原の木版画、金封、便箋などのオリジナル商品は、このような木版摺の技術を使用して作られているものが多々あり、精緻な職人技がその品質を支えています。
This is a glimpse into the meticulous work of a master engraver creating a woodblock for Haibara's traditional prints.
The block is made of wild cherry wood. While its fine grain and durability make it ideal, the artisan must carefully carve from four different directions just to create a single precise line.
Notice the water flask hanging in front of the light bulb. This ingenious traditional technique uses light refraction to eliminate shadows on the artisan's hands while working.
Many of Haibara’s original products, including woodblock prints, money envelopes, and letter paper, are brought to life by this incredible craftsmanship and dedication.

Haibara is a “Washi”, Japanese traditional paper store established in 1806.
We offer a "life with Japanese paper" through high-quality products including, letter papers, money envelopes, stationeries and original design patterned papers.
The store is located right in front of Tokyo "Nihonbashi" station B6 exit.
The building, which was renewed in May 2015, has an exterior that inherits the traditional imagery of mortar walls, tiled roof, and noren (shop curtain).
The bricks are made by trained bricklayer using clay from Mikawa, and an attempt was made to display the design of Haibara’s traditional pattern "Colored Glass" on the entire wall.
In the store, we welcomes customers with a tapestry made by an Echizen Japanese paper craftsman.
