Over the past few months, I’ve slowly transformed our bedroom into a more restorative retreat. Fresh paint, a better layout, layered natural textures… and finally, the addition of our new Reserve Collection mattress, which truly felt like the finishing touch.
We’ve been sleeping on it for the past 10 days, and it’s already become one of those upgrades that subtly changes your entire experience of a space. Comfortable, calming, and noticeably better at temperature regulation — which has been a game changer for us.
A reminder that creating a beautiful home isn’t just about how a space looks. It’s about how it supports the life you want to live.

For the primary bathroom at Project California Cool in Tartan Fields, our clients envisioned something retreat-like — a space that felt grounding, quiet, and restorative at the end of the day. They were drawn to a bold point of view, but not one rooted in color or excess. Instead, the goal was a kind of visual exhale: layered, natural, and easy on the eyes (without ever feeling flat).
Thoughtful textures, warm natural materials, and an intentional layout allowed the space to feel both calming and deeply dimensional.
Some of the most luxurious spaces are the ones that never ask for too much attention. 🤎

1) Materials — natural materials will over synthetic materials every time. You’ll find solid wood furniture, wool rugs and linen upholstery. And no, none of those things are harder to keep clean. That’s a myth.
2) Lighting — we never use the big lights in my house. Nosiree. You’ll find table lamps in every corner of my own.
3) Details — the more sculptural the decor, the better. I love unexpected tensions and pieces that spark a conversation. I stay away from shopping at the big major retailers because I get tired of seeing the same stuff over and over. Uniqueness is the name of the game.

We had such an incredible market this year. Each year I go to High Point, it hits me right away how much HHS has grown. I vividly remember my first few years attending — driving down all alone and walking around by myself for three days straight. No agendas, no reps wanting to talk to me, no meetings with PR teams or market reps, no one inviting me to fancy dinners.
This year, it’s so clear how much has changed. I was able to take my team — shout out to Jess and Juliana for keeping me company (and keeping me sane!) all weekend. We’re placing big orders and getting requests for face-to-face meetings with our reps, and didn’t pay for a single meal. We’re expanding into new vendors whose minimums I could’ve only ever dreamed of meeting not that long ago. Our schedule was jam-packed, so much so that we even missed a few meetings. And almost everywhere I went, I ran into a design buddy or industry acquaintance I knew and got to have a nice, long chat about business and life.
Market is an insanely exhausting time — the kind of exhaustion that lingers for days after it’s over. But it’s so, so worth it. From sourcing beautiful new lighting to remembering to eat and everything in between, I’m so grateful for the biggest gift left me with: the reminder to dream bigger.
Hallelujah, indeed. 🤍🤎

When our clients purchased this Georgian-style home in New Albany, Ohio, the architecture felt right, but the finishes told a different story. Builder-grade throughout, gray tones, and a lack of detail left the space feeling flat and disconnected from the rest of the home. It simply wasn’t living up to its potential.
While our initial scope included a full gut renovation of the kitchen, it became clear during the planning process that wasn’t the best use of the available budget. Once we evaluated what was already there, we realized we could do far more by working with the existing framework rather than starting over.
From there, the goal was to maximize every inch of the space while eliminating the builder-grade feel. We updated hardware and plumbing fixtures, added a pot filler, and concealed the existing stainless range hood with a custom paneled surround. The island was refinished to replace the original veneer, and the basic subway tile backsplash was replaced with a more elevated marble tile.
We also refined the lighting by reducing the number of pendants and introducing a more elegant scalloped glass fixture to better suit the scale of the space.
Function was just as important. As part of the larger first-floor renovation, we improved flow and rethought storage — relocating the oversized 72” refrigerator and double ovens into a new pantry. The space was color drenched in a rich burgundy and finished with marble countertops and a brass display shelf, turning a purely functional zone into something far more intentional.
The result is a kitchen that feels both timeless and personal, a reflection of what thoughtful design can accomplish without starting from scratch.

When our clients purchased this Georgian-style home in New Albany, Ohio, they knew one thing immediately: while the architecture was right, the interiors were not.
Builder-grade finishes, gray walls, and a lack of character left the home feeling disconnected from its traditional bones. The question wasn’t whether to renovate, but how to transform it into something more thoughtful, layered, and lasting.
Our approach was intentionally restrained. Rather than stripping the home back entirely, we worked with the existing architecture, using it as a foundation to introduce natural materials, richer textures, and a greater sense of permanence.
One of the more interesting challenges was balancing two distinct design perspectives: one client drawn to modern, wabi-sabi minimalism, and the other to a more traditional aesthetic. The result is a home that holds both, where clean-lined silhouettes and quiet restraint sit comfortably alongside classic detailing and proportion.
On the first floor, we reworked the layout to improve flow and function, adding a centrally located powder bath, incorporating a butler’s pantry, and transforming an oversized mudroom into a more intentional combination of mudroom, laundry, and guest bath.
Every decision was made to ensure the home felt intuitive, purposeful, and easy to live in.
At its core, this project is a reflection of something we believe deeply: you don’t have to sacrifice good design to create a family-friendly home, you just have to be thoughtful about how it’s done.
