I took Ryan to the ER on Monday night, and he was released yesterday. I won’t go into all the specifics, other than to say we are abundantly grateful. He is home, and better, and we have direction we did not have before.
Life has a way of directing you. Often it’s challenging to understand the purpose. Our week could have ended very differently, and it breaks my heart to think of the people that don’t get the news we did. And yet, the only guarantee you have once you are born, is that at some point, your life will end.
I thought about that a lot this week. The fragility of it all. The timing. And the gift of just being alive, and how I far too often take that one beautiful gift for granted.
I was scheduled to be on a flight to buy in Dallas hours after this began. I’m so thankful I was not on a plane, or away. I’m so thankful I had this week to think over the beauty of life, and how God has covered us, even in the bad, especially in the bad… because his nature is that of the most pure love.
Please hear me, I know there are some of you walking the unbearable, and this might be really challenging to read. All the raw, and very real emotions that come with heartbreak.
I’m always aware that on this little platform where I share my business, and parts of my life, that there will be people that feel unseen, because the walk they’re on is so vastly different. I just want to pause and say, for those of you that are navigating the unbearable, you are seen, for where you are, and loved. THE most beautiful thing in having H3 BARN is we get to share in relationship. I’ll be back in the shop next week, if you need an ear to listen, or some arms to hug you, I’m your girl.
For today. I’m stepping out with a renewed enthusiasm and humbled gratefulness for the beauty of this life we get to live.

As we step into the New Year, we have a few a few more projects to finish up in our new space. We also will be hosting a cash carry section (a pop up shop) in Sacramento on January 30- February 1. We are really looking forward to this, and encourage you to come and visit us at this incredible event, for home and garden inspiration, and connections for all your home projects!
That said, the shop will be open through January 18th, then we will close down for a few weeks, to host the event and finish up our work on our space.
It’s not ideal to close for a few weeks, just as we’ve opened, but…. We have something planned for you as a HUGE thank you for being the literal best customers and friends in the world! We forwent the fancy tables and dress. The rush, the obligations. We traded it for;
Quiet. Peacefulness. Contentment.
Time being together, just the three of us.
Long walks between storms, shooting 2x4’s as clay bird’s, breakfast with the horses, dinners over fire. Watching cole with pride, shoeing Dexter. And, with one month left of Ferrier school, having so much excitement as he steps into new chapters. The best time with all the animals, good talks, and laughter.
I’ll always miss not all being together. And cherish the years we’re given that gift. However, this year was a different gift, and one I’ll always cherish.
Hope you are having a memorable holiday season, whatever it looks like. Press into the moments, because the moments are your life. Sometimes they look different than we’d expect, maybe hope for, but one thing I know for certain, when I allow myself to soak in each day, for what it is, and has to offer, i’m overwhelmed by the goodness of it.

Christmas has looked a little different for us the past several years, with our sons all stepping into careers that don’t follow “traditional” schedules, (fire and medicine) we’ve spent the last couple christmas’s apart. In many ways, there’s been a beauty in this. A deep pull to sit with what this season is all about. It’s allowed time and space to be still, to reflect, and to soak in gratitude for the incredible gift of who God is, and his faithfulness in our lives.
Wherever you find yourselves this blessed day, I pray you find peace within it. Whether you’re knee deep in paper and ribbon, and spun out on too much sugar, or, find yourself solo on a cozy couch like me, there is so much beauty to behold in both.
Joy to the world, for the Lord did come, and he is that perfect peace that transcends all understanding, in the greatest highs, and lowest lows.
