The Gunnar and Waterford factory closed in 2023, leaving a gap in the market for first-class, U.S.A.-made frames, particularly in steel. Industry Veterans John Siegrist, his son, David Siegrist, and Brad Swaim, just acquired the Gunnar and Waterford bicycle brands. Gunnar and Waterford will join the portfolio of brands built at Abracadabra Fabrication, their frame-building shop headquartered in Durango, Colorado.
“We’re excited to blend Gunnar and Waterford’s great designs and reputation with the capabilities of our team and facilities,” says David Siegrist, who will lead the effort. High precision frame building with cutting-edge specs combined with John Siegrist’s fabrication and welding expertise will reestablish the quality, fit, and finish that Waterford is so well known for. Durango’s proximity to a multitude of different riding terrains and available feedback from world-class riders will cement Gunnar’s tradition of unparalleled value-based performance.
Abracadabra Fabrication, which makes titanium frames under the trade name, traces its roots back decades within the custom bicycle fabrication domain. Along with the trade name, they acquired the historic Gunnar and Waterford designs and specs that will be used to help create a revamped product line. People will start to see changes in the websites starting this upcoming spring.
For the past two years, Gunnar and Waterford have continued supporting their existing customers by
selling decals and related products. Aftermarket support will be continued under a new website, which is launching towards the end of May 2025. Updates will be posted on the Waterford and Gunnar websites as well as on social media pages.
