We stayed in the village of San Juan La Laguna in a beautiful place called and explored some of the other villages on easy day trips by local boats or tuktuks.
San Juan is known for its artsy vibe and community projects. Its streets are covered in colorful art. 🖼️
San Marcos La Laguna is quieter and more spiritual. You can find yoga retreats, sound healing, cacao ceremonies etc. 🧘♀️
And San Pedro busier and more social. Definitely more bars and nightlife, this one is a favorite among many backpackers. 🍹
There are more villages around Lake Atitlán but these 3 are probably the most visited.

We visited Tikal National Park (our UNESCO World Heritage Site 367) with and really enjoyed our time. We learned so much about how the city worked, who controlled it, and why it collapsed. Without context, you will miss so much.
