Ten years ago, I dreamed of travelling the world. Thailand, Mexico and Japan were at the top of my list, with Japan being the destination I wanted to visit most. It took me nearly four years to finally make that dream a reality.
Although Japan was the country I’d always dreamed of visiting, I realized I had more fun in Thailand than I’ve had in Japan.
I’m grateful for the time I spent there: discovering the culture, exploring new places, meeting the elephants 🐘 (at ethical sanctuaries, no riding, please don’t support those businesses) enjoying the food and experiencing a different way of life. I even miss the simple things, like having a motorbike 🛵 and riding along the roads between the fields, with the freedom to explore wherever the day took me. ⛰️
Life wasn’t always perfect, and there are certainly things I would have done differently. But looking back, so many days felt like an adventure, even when I was working. Thailand gave me experiences and memories that have stayed with me long after I left.
Life in Japan has had its own challenges, too, and perhaps it has taken some time and distance for me to appreciate just how much that chapter in Thailand meant to me.
There are still places I never got to visit, especially in the south. Phuket, its beaches and the Phi Phi Islands remain on my list. 🏝️
Seven years later, I’m looking through these photographs and feeling a little nostalgic for a life I once had. And lately, I’ve found myself wondering what it would be like to return.
Maybe there’s still another chapter of Thailand waiting for me. ❤️🇹🇭

A little throwback to Adrian’s surprise proposal to Anahi at Lake Kawaguchi, with Mt. Fuji and beautiful autumn maple leaves as their backdrop! 🍁❤️
But getting the perfect shot didn’t quite go as planned…
Our original proposal location was the observation deck at the Kawaguchiko Panoramic Ropeway. Unfortunately, we discovered it was closed after taking the cable car! 🚠
Time for Plan B! I quickly messaged Adrian and suggested Ubuyagasaki, where we arranged to meet separately.
When he arrived, Adrian handed me his phone and asked me to take a photo. Pretending to be just another visitor, I offered to take their picture and suggested he move closer to the lake.
That was the cue. ❤️
He dropped to one knee, I switched to my camera 📸, and just like that, I captured the moment Anahi’s life changed forever!
Sometimes, the best photographs come from a little improvisation and a lot of trust. I’m truly grateful I could help make this surprise proposal happen and preserve such a special memory. ☺️
